I wouldn't worry about age at all. If it makes you feel better, I am 29. In the MA program I did - taking courses alongside PhD students - there were many above my age as well. Some in their 30s or 40s.
That is reassuring - thank you! I know it's quite silly to worry about age when you are planning to commit ~6 years of your life to this one thing. Just stressing about stupid things that are out of my control, like this decision and age lol

Too old? HAHAHAHA I'm 41 and doing it. At 27, you'll be fine. If you're wanting to be a Professor, most don't retire until their 70s, so....
Okay you win this round! Haha. I've seen poli sci tends to get much younger cohorts than other disciplines like econ, some fresh out of undergrad, so I always figure I'm going to be one of the older members in whatever batch I end up starting in in the (seemingly distant) future. But don't mind me and my anxious rants.

Hahaha I do hope you get some offers, but I understand that it's good to have back-ups Since I've already done my master's, I'm a bit worried about not having a proper back-up plan since the labor market isn't very reliable.
I also already have my master's (i'm graduating this June), but thankfully it was nearly fully funded, so I don't have student loans. I do worry that I'll be too old before I start the PhD (currently 27 already!), but time is a construct in academia (or is it?)

It is. You can get funding from the uni that is needs based but it's extremely competitive obviously. There are also more program and department specific funding but I do not know much about that. You will need to check the website yourself.
Okay thank you! Nothing like the next couple of rejections to move me towards MA program websites lol

It is. And it's rolling admissions, so I suggest applying ASAP. LSE's programmes tend to fill up by March.
So 1-year master's? How are they with funding etc.?

LSE Comparative Politics program is excellent. I just graduated from it in November. Based on your interests, I hope you checked out the conflict studies program as well! It’s a slightly smaller program but it’s tied a bit more closely to your interests.
Is that a master's program? When do applications go out for that? I might need a backup given how this year is going..

Are those Emory admits from yesterday real?

Perhaps this is a divine intervention, haha. At least we can't drive ourselves crazy for a little while: Enjoy!
Haha I agree - our browsers are telling us to stop hitting refresh and do something else!

My browser keeps blocking me from accessing the website saying "The Connection is not private". Anyone else getting that?
Yep me too

Also rejected from UCSD. Bummer since it's the first of the season, but atleast it's a decision.

So is it safe to assume those Berkeley phone calls were fake? And so were the Princeton rejections on Apply web? Also super surprised that Duke is interviewing people, curious what fields they interviewed?
I'm new here - been following this thread and trying to make sense of what is real and isn't. Sorry if I'm restarting a previous conversation
Pending: Harvard, Yale, Princeton, UCSD, Berkeley, UCLA, Stanford, MIT, Michigan, Duke, Cornell, NYU, Chicago.

I'll just take a moment to say this forum (unlike other Gradcafe portals I've been on previously) is awesome and everyone here is obviously pretty talented. Hope things work out for everyone!
