  1. wow! I got accepted to SIPA but got nowhere near that amount of funding! Good job! i got work-study and unsubsidized loans . I would say take the SIPA. They're covering so much of the tuition and you wont have to go into unnecessary debt taking on loans. SIPA is still a great school even if working for govt. In terms of prestige, both are very similar and NY is still a global hub so its not like there aren't any opportunities there.
  2. I was accepted. Got financial aid of 15,000 and then another additional 15,000 for the documentary term. Still reallllllllllyyy expensive though.
  3. yeah hard agree. Especially because the program I applied for is 2 years instead of the usual one since its a dual degree so its going to be even more expensive. I'm still happy I got financial aid but lol. At the moment, berkeley is still the most affordable to me due to being In-state and the ability to qualify for TA
  4. Congrats!! I too got into Columbia! I got into the dual program at SIPA and the journalism school documentary program - I got 15k! So still pretty exp lol but at least its something
  5. yeah financial aid is a big factor for me too. So far, berkeley is the best option financially as i'm a CA resident so can get in-state. Also, I know that TA positions ( although quite competitive) waives the tuition for in state at berkeley. This is just what I read in an article last year though so idk if that's still the case.
  6. i got into northwestern! Got the email yesterday! Am pretty surprised but happy! Now just waiting on NYU and Columbia
  7. Thank you! Good luck to you too and I really hope you hear great news from Medill! I've emailed them so we'll see what they say although I feel super silly right now for not reading through my email more lol.
  8. so Berkeley sent out an email today saying that financial stuff will be enclosed in another email later. So possibly next week? They sent my official admission letter today and that's what it said in that letter
  9. oh no! I realize i got that email in October when i was dealing with an emergency so I didn't even see it aghh. Well, that's disappointing. I'll call them tomorrow but i assume since I didn't schedule an interview, I'm probably out. I'll call them tomorrow but that's a bummer. At least I've got Berkeley and USC
  10. Haven't heard from Medill either! But I also havent gotten an interview with them- I applied for round 2. Not having high hopes about it. Also have yet to hear from Columbia MS, & NYU global journalism
  11. Did you hear back from USC yet? I got accepted last night and saw some others got accepted days before so I agree that it's possibly rolling?
  12. In my interview, they told me mid March ( Columbia) so I suspect like March 12thish? Not sure about NYU tho!
  13. Thanks all! Hope everyone hears back with good news asap
  14. Congrats! I also got the call for recommendation for admission yesterday!
  15. nope- I suspect we'll hear back in early-Mid March.
  16. Had an interview for the documentary track for the MS journalism. They told me that I should expect to hear back about the decision by mid march. I am so nervous checking my inbox every day.
  17. i too had technical difficulties! Mine was 20 mins but my zoom wasnt working so -7 minutes but they were both very nice. Hoping the best for you! We'll hear back in early March apparently ahhh
  18. Lets hope so! They were really nice though. And It wasn't a super difficult interview at all. You'll do great. Good luck and yes let me know!
  19. I think it went alright! They were very nice. i had some technical difficulties at the start with the zoom but they were very gracious about it. When is your interview? Do you plan on going through the documentary track or more narrative?
  20. Thank you! i think it went alright, fingers crossed though!
  21. I too had my interview for Columbia on Thursday for the doc program! Idk how it went for me tho... They didnt really ask many any questions apart from the questions they ask everyone. i prepared alot for the interview but I still felt like it was kind of awkward and I just don't feel very confident. So we'll see how that goes. I'm hoping it went better than i thought but idk. I have an interview tomorrow for berkeley's program so hoping that goes well! Good job on USC tho! That's incredible. I hope the best for you from Columbia as well! I think you being a vet with a critical lens is essential for journalism in general.
  22. My interview is also on the 15th for 20 mins! I had an interview with columbia on thursday so I've kind of practiced for that interview so gonna practice similarily for the berkeley interview.
