  1. well I've got plenty of stellar options, and trying to be very frugal is increasingly difficult. this will be tricky, but decision dates are not far off so I will have to figure it out. will update
  2. @Hphphphp this is awesome! thanks for sharing. wish everywhere had this info avilable.
  3. I would research their faculty and see who I want to study with
  4. I can answer questions about life at MICA/Baltimore, but not the grad program
  5. ITT we discuss offers for funding we get from programs, weigh our decisions, and give helpful advice, leaving a record for future applicants to check out. This hasn't been done since the 2015 thread, and things have likely changed a lot since then. Future people: If the program you are trying to learn about is not mentioned, try out the 2015 thread: https://forum.thegradcafe.com/topic/63611-mfa-arts-2015-funding-and-decisions/
  6. I was reviewing this thread, y'all might want to also. maybe we should start one for this year? Interestingly, it was made on the exact same date as today
  7. hmm well that seems possible, I also did not get an interview. however I am determined to promote ~good vibes~ ITT so perhaps it's simply that they're so entranced by the quality of your portfolio that they haven't been able to stop looking at it long enough to send your acceptance letter :^) optimism!
  8. yes, it dropped in around 1030 last night. you are still waiting to hear from them?
  9. Rejected from BU painting last night! disappointment. I also was starting to think i'd go undefeated on my applications but BU ended the streak
  10. HUGE congrats!! amazing that you got such a generous offer, you must be very skilled! of course, this makes me sweaty wondering about when BU Painting will send letters
  11. Got accepted to PAFA! It was nerve wracking for a moment, the email makes you log in to a portal where you can read your decision, and logging in was a harrowing few moments. but then there was animated confetti so it's cool
  12. still silence from them on my end, too. the "freak-out" is getting real haha
  13. is anyone else ITT applying to PAFA? don't think I seen anyone else talk about it
  14. got accepted to TCU! awesome experience. I got a phone call from a faculty member shortly after my interview.
  15. Yeah I would also be inclined to take the short and sweet path. What a weird experience you had! I am a present MICA student and have known faculty and staff of the school to generally be very genial and down-to-earth. if you (or any other prospective MICA students reading) want to know something specific about the school or Baltimore, I'm happy to help.
  16. I just interviewed at TCU! It seemed to go well. They asked me some really interesting questions, including: What is a difficult problem you encountered in your studio and how did you reconcile it? in what ways have you connected to your community in the past, and in what ways will you be in the future? definitely good food for thought, I thought.
  17. This is a hot take, care to expand on this? I'd be especially interested to see data supporting your claim that folks who get an MFA never continue their art practice. it doesn't sound totally unlikely, but it does sound sad.
  18. oh wow I did not realize that's where it was! perspective
  19. right, that is a big part of my reluctance as well, though I understand rent is incredibly low these days since people have left the city due to covid. maybe if we're lucky it will stay that way? Nice, I picked TCU for similar reasons; fully funded, stipend, and I am a native Texan (Houston). The faculty are pretty cool as well, just much fewer people there.
  20. that's super interesting, I almost applied to Tulane since I have family in NOLA, and I was super impressed with Ronna S. Harris' work. what attracted you to the program? stoked you got a good offer from NYAA!!! not surprising since I saw your work! they gave me a decent offer as well, but I'm ballin on a budget so I gotta be extra patient over here with my FAFSA and all haha
  21. I just updated my signature happy crying today
  22. I generally left it blank, but there were a couple instances of noteworthy info; one of my paintings was done en plein air and I went on location 12 times, carrying out a big ass easel and 4 foot canvas. so I thought that would be cool to mention.
  23. I got in their early deadline. I think the hard one is feb. it's gone well so far! I elected to do an interview (you can simply sign up) and it was pleasant. I made a post about it ITT
  24. I haven't been in that situation yet, but I expect I might be. So i'm hoping I can leverage my offers, or at least find an option that genuinely works for me. Honestly this was my situation in undergrad- I wound up appealing my scholarship offer, essentially just asking them for more money. It worked once! So I think there's hope. therefore my answer is that I hope we don't have to find out how it feels to tell a school no due to finance
