Hey everyone! I made a group for MPH students at Queen's. Feel free to join and add other people https://www.facebook.com/groups/266378021897690/members/

Msged you!
-
Yup! Msged you. I don't think there's an FB group for this year yet.
-
I'd love to connect as well!
-
I've been panic checking my UoZone all day and just received a refusal a few min ago! Kind of expecting the same for Waterloo and Guelph rn
-
Yup, same here! I emailed admissions a couple of days ago and they said we should hear back by mid May. Hope we hear some good news in a couple of weeks.
-
Still waiting to hear from Guelph! I actually emailed Queen's a couple of weeks back about that! They typically get 400-450 applicants per year with an intake of 45 students.
-
Congrats!! Did they just send the email this late at night?
-
Mine still says "all documents received" as well. My friend who applied for the previous cycle told me she got her rejection during the first week of May. Hope we don't have to wait that long for a decision this year.
-
Thanks for sharing! You also brought up a great point about applying to placements that aligns with your strengths.
-
Based on your experience, did MPH course grades matter when applying to practicum positions or did they solely look at your work experience? I am a little clueless about the practicum process, so any insight is appreciated
-
For anyone who received an offer at Queen's, are you able to see your official letter on the Graduate Studies website? I saw mine on Monday, but can't find it anymore.
-
Also got my western rejection. Really happy for those of you who got accepted!! Best wishes!

Thanks Got an email around 11 am today. 2 years of working as mental health/research assistant at Uni, 1.5 years pharmacy assistant, one summer volunteering at local diabetes clinic, one summer of T2D research at hospital, worked for a rural education project in China last summer, research project on T2D prevalence among immigrants No publications, conferences, awards, etc Intent letter focused on my interest in chronic disease prevention, specifically T2D. Low key messed up my last year of undergrad (had 60s in 2 courses) from overloading, so I'm glad they even considered me lol
-
Got an offer from Queens! For those of you worried about GPA, mine was quite bad lol
-
Honestly, your last 2 years is really good...I guess it's just competition I'm curious how many people applied this year compared to last year. Gonna email them to see if they have the answer.
-
Ugh same also a fresh grad with only one stats course over here
-
Aww man, I'm sorry Kind of hopeful for uOttawa since it's a relatively new program. Keep strong guys!
-
Got my UofT epi rejection as well. Pretty sad bc it was my top choice
-
Same! In fact, my Queen's and Western app still displays "application submitted" and "applied", so I'm not sure when they'll review mine.
-
I'm Sorry Hope you get good news from other schools. Stay strong, you got this!
-
Your stats look impressive! Good luck on your apps as well!!! Hope we hear from them soon.
-
No problem! My grades are on the lower side. Cumulative ave: 78%. 2 year average: 81%. Stats pre-req: 89%. ECs: 2 years of working at Psychological Services/mental health assistant at my university, 1.5 years as a pharmacy assistant at local pharmacy, Summer clinical research volunteer at local diabetes clinic, Summer research assistant at hospital, Summer working for a rural education project in China, project on T2D prevalence for immigrants coming to Canada. Don't have any publications. As a recent grad, it's really been hard finding public health related experience during the pandemic Top choice is UofT, but I heard they are GPA heavy. I would also love to go to Queen's (rival school hahah) but I'd be thankful if I got accepted anywhere. Hbu?
-
I've applied to all of those and haven't heard back from any UOttawa may take longer though because the deadline was late feb.
-
Hey! It was so hard to keep that part under the 2000 character limit. But I basically used three headings: Employment, Volunteering and Awards/Certifications. I added a brief description of my role for each position under the heading. I didn't make an Education section, because they already asked us for our academic background. I also omitted any work/volunteering that wasn't public health related since I didn't have space.
