I personally think no? Because you have the bargaining power for it, you should be fine to ask for an update.

Both UW and UCF placed me on the waitlist a month ago. I don't have any offers besides UW currently...

I am speechless now. UW gave me the offer today.

They sent me a email that I am on their wait list today.

I don't really know...It said the faculty selected 12 applicants to interviews (i.e., faculty, current PhD students, and a brief analysis of a few articles).
