  1. Hey y’all - just a heads up that CSUEB is starting to send out decisions as of yesterday. I found out my financial aid situation at UCB today so I’ve accepted and am officially declining offers from all other schools. Hopefully this will mean good news for some awesome folks stuck on waitlists. Good luck to everyone who is still waiting to hear back!
  2. Just got good news from SFSU - still leaning towards Berkeley but I won’t know if I’m getting the financial support I need until potentially the end of the month. The email didn’t include any info on scholarships though. Hopefully SJSU and CSUEB aren’t far behind in making decisions!
  3. Has anyone who received an offer from UCB gotten information on financial support from the department? If so, how - via email, phone call, letter, application portal? I received an email this morning stating that “offers of support have all been sent separately” but I haven’t gotten anything, which is disappointing because I thought I had a really good shot at LCOE. I emailed the department last week to ask but haven’t heard anything back.
  4. It didn’t say, although I think I remember specifying that I wanted to do SCYF in the application. I can’t imagine them just deciding to put you in a concentration you didn’t want but Cal works in mysterious ways
  5. Me too!!! I’m so unbelievably excited!
  6. FYI to all - somebody posted in the main thread about hearing good news from UCB last night. Fingers crossed for decisions to be sent out to the rest of us ASAP!
  7. Ahhhh! Did you get in? I’ve been checking my email every 30 seconds all day, I know they’ll probably trickle in throughout the week but I am so anxious to know.
  8. Most MSW programs have a generalist model - meaning they train you to work in many different aspects of social services rather than specifically focusing on clinical therapy (like MFTs do). If you decide to go for an MSW you will probably have to complete a postgraduate certification course in art therapy if that’s what you want to do. It’s possible your school might offer one of those courses to take after you graduate, but I think it’s unlikely you’ll find an MSW program with an integrated art therapy certification component. I could be wrong though, I don’t know the details of what every program offers. If you’re set on doing art therapy as a career you may be better off doing an MFT than an MSW.
  9. Anyone else get a psych-out email from SJSU? I got one saying there was a new message in my portal but it was just a reminder to complete the FAFSA. It was so upsetting!
  10. I applied to all of the same Bay Area schools you did - this info is super helpful! Can’t believe how wide the decision window is for SJSU and CSUEB, but I’m glad we can expect Berkeley’s decisions first. I don’t know what I’d do if I got accepted to one of the others and had to make a decision before hearing back from UCB!
  11. Thank you for writing this! This is exactly how I feel. Prestige doesn’t really matter in a field like ours (unless you’re going into an MSW with the intention of doing private practice with affluent clients only, which, no judgement but... judgement). Everyone should make decisions based on the strength of the program, the aid they offer, and where you geographically want to live and work!
  12. Nothing yet. They’re my #1, but none of the schools I applied to have sent decisions yet. I’m so nervous! I sent in my applications on the deadline for all schools (I know, not smart) so I imagine that might contribute to the delay for me.
  13. Hi everybody! I applied to UC Berkeley, San Francisco State, San José State, CSU East Bay, and one school in the Central Valley (Fresno State), but obviously I’m hoping to be in the Bay Area, and reeeeally hoping for UCB. Anyone have any news on acceptance decisions for any of these? I know Berkeley’s website says decisions will be sent by March 1st but I’m curious to know if anyone has already received a response. Good luck to all of my fellow applicants waiting to hear back!
