  1. It depends I think on how many alternates they nominate altogether and how high are you in the ranking of alternates (I'm sure they have a ranking). My award letter reads that I have to accept or decline the award by April 19th, and so I think all alternates will hear from SSRC a couple of days after April 19th. Considering that IDRF fellowship winners are announced rather late -- after the announcements had been made for majority of similar diss research grants, I'd assume that a bunch of people who got another large grant (the rules stipulate one can't hold two large grants simultaneously), would decline the IDRF award, as they already accepted another one. Best of luck to you, fingers crossed!
  2. No, nothing looks different in a portal - I just double-checked.
  3. Congrats to you too!!
  4. Hi all, I just got an email from IDRF (at 3:17 pm ET) that I was provisionally awarded this fellowships (provisional on a written acceptance). Best of luck to everyone else who is still waiting or had been nominated as an alternate. Also, this is the third year I've been applying to this fellowship, and this is only the first time I made it to the finalist round. So if this is first or second time for you, please, keep applying!
  5. I was really hoping we would get an email at 3 pm ET today. This wait is preventing me from fully focusing on my writing. Ugh.
  6. Hi! Apologies if I had unwittingly given you a new bout of anxiety with my comment. In the last 3 years I heard it repeatedly from various people that those finalists who are ranked higher, do not get a request for transcripts. It was solely based on anecdotal evidence, and after digging deeper today (here: https://academicjobs.wikia.org/wiki/Dissertation_Fellowships_2021-2022#SSRC_-_IDRF), I see that this is inaccurate., and like you said, all finalists get a transcript request. Hopefully, we will hear good news soon! I am basically only waiting for IDRF at this point - received rejections form a bunch of other places already.
  7. No word on anything yet. I think we will hear something by April 10th or so. Last year, acceptance/ rejection letters were sent on April 8th I think. I am not really holding my breath as I had a transcript request which already means I was not in a "top tier", so my chances are rather slim, given also my marginal research area in a discipline (history) which is rarely funded by IDRF. And finally, the number of awards this year is 60, as opposed to 70+ in previous years.
  8. Request for Transcript received (Feb 5, 12:07 pm EST)
  9. Hi, I also applied from UIC. I received a request from SSRC today for an official transcript (and my status is listed as a "finalist" on the SSRC web portal. Did you get anything yet? Also, there's a new thread for SSRC 2021 here:
  10. HI everyone! I received a request for official transcripts just now (Feb 5, 2021), and upon logging in to the SSRC web-site, it indicates that I am a finalist. Anyone else got the transcript requests? What are the next evaluation steps?
