russnation got a reaction from AspiringNPSIAN in Munk School, NPSIA and GPSIA 2021 Admissions
They entered in my specialization today! And my status has changed from “Recommended for Assessment” to “Review in Progress By Department”. Hoping this is a good sign!

Hey everyone! I am currently under "Recommended for Assessment" - fingers crossed! Any insight into how long the process takes from there?
Also, for those who got in, if you don't mind me asking, what was your GPA and extracurricular/work experience like? I applied for part time, 3.6 GPA in my last two years + approaching 2 years of work experience in government. From what I know, they primarily look at your GPA, so I'm hoping my stats are relatively competitive for NPSIA.
Good luck to all!

Hi all. I'm new to this site and thread.
I got accepted to NPSIA a couple weeks ago with my top specialization (IDP) and some generous scholarships and a TA offer. Honestly cannot recall the acceptance process but I do know I was stressed when my status was not changing lol
Doing an honours degree with thesis in political science (concentration in IR), minor in public policy and governance from StFX in Nova Scotia. GPA has been around 3.7
I have very little government work experience but worked last summer for the Govt of PEI. I also do RA work for a professor.
Extracurriculars included multiple exec positions on societies and other basic volunteering.
My references were strong as they came from the prof I do RA work for who is also my thesis advisor. The other came from a prof who I have a really good connection with.
Also applied and was accepted to Carleton's MPPA program first but have ultimately decided on NPSIA.
I'm moving to Ottawa from the east coast with a friend but have very little knowledge about the area. Would love any advice and just general contact with others in the program. Best of luck everyone and feel free to reach out! I would love to get to know some people before I arrive!
