  1. Not sure if this is helpful to anyone but I have been at "recommended for assessment" for NPSIA for ages and finally reached out to Lauren to see where I was at in the process and she replied with this: "Thanks for your email. At this time, your application has been reviewed by the admissions committee and has not been selected as part of our first round of offers. Your application is currently being held for consideration for our second round of offers, which will be distributed on a rolling basis starting at the end of this month and going out throughout the spring (and possibly into the summer). All final admission decisions will be made no later than August 31st. Unfortunately, due to the competitiveness of the program it’s difficult to provide a more exact timeline." So if anyone is at the same stage or wants to check if they are being held for second round offers I suggest emailing. For reference my GPA is 10.45/12, Polisci undergrad finishing this year, no relevant work experience.
  2. I got into GSPIA, still waiting on NPSIA but from what I've heard a lot of the decision comes down to your gpa in your final two years of undergrad.
  3. I'v been at "Recommended for Assessment" for almost 3 weeks. Fingers crossed we all hear soon.
  4. Sorry to hear about NPSIA but happy you got your first choice still! I got into GSPIA and my application for NPSIA has been stalled at "recommended for assessment" for a month without any movement... and since we were told that first round offers should be finishing soon I'm not very optimistic I was wondering what stage your application got to before you got your decision??
  5. Hey all. I'm still of "preliminary review required" for my NPSIA application but I just got an email from Lauren regarding my application and she requested I send an updated transcript with my fall semester grades (I applied in December so they were not posted yet or else i would have included them) she said: "We are currently in the process of reviewing your application to NPSIA, and I am reaching out to request a copy of your most recent transcript that includes your Fall 2020 grades. We typically require these grades when calculating an applicant’s GPA, and any additional documentation can be uploaded through Carleton Central once an application has been submitted. An unofficial copy would be fine." So if anyone is in the same boat as me I would upload your most recent transcript ASAP so that hopefully you get a decision sooner.
  6. SO HELPFUL! Thank you so much honestly I'm in the same boat wanting to work for the government and I have been leaning towards NPSIA especially with the specializations they offer and the course work option compared to GSPIA's research paper or thesis options. The only bummer for me is that I would have to complete the econ requirements this summer for NPSIA whereas I can complete the econ requirements during my first year at U of O. I'm really hoping I hear back from NPSIA soon... I have a 10.45 on the carleton GPA scale so I hope that makes me a somewhat competitive applicant lol but I guess I'll see.
  7. You're a saint! I am still at "preliminary review required" but I got an acceptance from GSPIA with the typical $7500 scholarship back in Feb. If I get an acceptance from NPSIA (fingers crossed lol) I was wondering what the advantages are to picking NPSIA over GSPIA. To be honest my main goal is to come out of either program with a job offer (probably everyones goal lmao) in your opinion what program sets you up with better networking and work placement/co-op opportunities?
