Just received an email accepting me to UMKC!

Each school/program sets it's own tuition, so the amount unfunded grad students will be billed will vary from school to school. I assume the process is similar to that of financing undergrad. You'll have "pending aid," be billed for a semester, then when your loans come through, the school will be paid first, and any remaining funds will be disbursed to your account. Bestcolleges.com says "How Much Is an MFA in Creative Writing? According to Peterson's, a higher education organization, graduate students who attend a public university pay $30,000 in average annual tuition, while those who attend private institutions pay $40,000 each year. However, prices vary with individual schools."

I think just student loans.

I've pretty much given up on my application portals. I haven't received a single rejection notification, and every portal except one (FIU - says incomplete, looks like a LOR did not get sent) still says something to the effect of pending/awaiting departmental review/under review etc - including the one acceptance I received via phone. However, I did have a dream that I was accepted to the University of Florida.

Hey! I'm 40 myself. I'm applying right out of undergrad (took me 20 years to complete a four year degree), but from everything I've seen, being "on the older side" isn't necessarily a negative thing.

Can I ask where you're located and where you applied? There are maybe three programs within commuting distance from me. I commut an hour each way for undergrad right now. I can't imagine a four hour commute.

Between the weather and the holiday, should we expect to hear anything today? I'm curious how many of us are first time applicants. Also, what's everyone's living situation (married, kids, etc)? I will be moving for grad school at the same time BOTH of my kids will be entering their freshman year of college. It's extra scary, and the logistics are a big headache already. However, grad school should be an excellent remedy for empty nest syndrome.

How realistic is it to expect responses from Oklahoma State University and FSU, if my portals still say pending/under review, but there are (multiple) results posted from both programs?

I received an acceptance for poetry (my first!). She said they are accepting 5 applicants in each genre, and all applicants would be called today. She also told me to expect follow up calls from Natalie Diaz and Solmaz Sharif! I am dying!
