I do not think it's ethically or legally right. Diversity is great and I am a proponent for it but black CS grads make up 7-8% so 15% is not normal. So they practiced overt affirmative action.
I see people getting rejected who have 3.9+ GPAs, high GREs and Letters of Recommendation from top Professors at reputable institutions.
I am in no way claiming all of those black people are unqualified.
However this seemed like a concerted effort from Black in AI so it is likely black students got admitted with lower GPAs. This is unfair.
I have been concerned for a week now about Berkeley PhD program.
I am super duper concerned.
All of the CS admits seems to have been chosen and it's usually early February.
I was also concerned.
There are people in the results pages claiming Berkeley, MIT, CMU only send out one batch of acceptances with no waitlist so if you aren't in the first batch you should give up.
It seems many people got acceptances February 3rd and 4th. Is it safe to say if you didn't receive anything a rejection email is waiting?
Someone on the results pages mentioned the EECS acceptances have all been sent out.
Which concentrations were sent out? Anyone from SCIENTIFIC COMPUTING, ENERGY, EDUCATION, HCI, GRAPHICS?
