I've been on the waitlist for the PhD program at Columbia for a while, but a couple of days ago I was accepted into the program. I accepted their offer, but requested to defer to fall 2022. I don't know what that means for other people on the waitlist, but I just wanted to mention it just in case. This also means that I turned down my spot at CUNY, so a spot there will also open up if you're on their waitlist.

All acceptances were sent out last week for their U of T program. They had room for 4 domestic and 4 international students

Columbia acceptances were sent out a while ago, and they waitlisted a few people. I'm waitlisted and haven't heard anything

So far, I've been accepted into one program (although I don't think I want to go to that program), rejected from two programs, and waitlisted (but probably won't get into) my last two other programs. I'm honestly thinking of just re-applying to PhD programs next year or the year after. For people who have done this, what's your advice? Especially for applying to the same schools? Do you just email the same faculty in the fall, letting them know you're applying again? Do you change your Statements of Interests? Is it okay to propose the same or similar research? Or do they except something new? Any advice would help.

Yeah, they already made their first round of admissions. But I was told that this year they admitted half domestic and half international students, so not being Canadian shouldn't be an issue.

Is it normal for a school to wait until after Open Day to tell you if you've been accepted or waitlisted? I did an interview and thought it went well. According to the board on this website, they already sent out acceptances to all the spots they had for this year (which I didn't get), but when I emailed asking for an update since they invited me for Open Day, they said the held back some spots to make decisions after Open Day.

Anyone hear from Cornell? Had my interview there almost two weeks ago and haven't heard anything...
