  1. That explains things. Congrats!
  2. Someone just posted a rejection . . . I think it’s finally coming!
  3. I just imagine them sitting together and one saying, “Hey, you know what would be funny? If we put two empty decision portals instead of one!!”
  4. I can’t help but wonder if they waitlisted but then changed their mind LOL
  5. I WAS JUST COMING TO ASK THIS LMAO
  6. I think is Syracuse is one of the few schools that has not made any decisions at all. (Unless those who were admitted do not post to Gradcafe). I think Rochester is just trolling at this point. That supposed one-two day wait is going on to a week! I didn’t apply to Santa Barbara, so I have no input on this one! But Fordham is the another that I’m waiting on.
  7. From what I saw on the results page, someone was told that Syracuse would be sending results this week. But watch it not happen . . .
  8. We are live on day 6 of being trolled by Rochester . . .
  9. Ha! But, also, if I’m recalling correctly, was it you before who posted that Rochester replied to an email saying that they had only finished a first review? Could totally be recalling wrong.
  10. But at the same time, if there was positive news, I think she should’ve told me. So, who knows?
  11. I was thinking that, too (rejection), but I recall someone on here saying that their application still read as “in review.” Also, not one person has mentioned this on the results page. With all the questions being asked about different programs, I assume at least one person would mention this issue. So, I have a feeling that this portal thing is not a ubiquitous issue among all remaining Rochester applicants. Let’s remain positive
  12. I reached out to Rochester. I was told that the notification on the portal is a “preemptive alert” and that more information would be coming my way in the next day or two. Not sure if I should read this as a positive or a negative, ha.
  13. I just looked again and noticed something important: There is no date next to where it says “decision released.” All of the other updates have a date next to them. Maybe they haven’t made a decision and are just getting the system ready for upload? Someone said that they didn’t have this update before, so it seems that all decisions are not ready. I’d wait till Tuesday, since I doubt anyone will answer email on a Sunday, either way.
  14. Just checked—same. We’ll probably get the answer by the end of today. Good luck
  15. I got an acceptance today, y’all!!
  16. American Studies has a literature/history/culture subfield. That seems like something that would work for you. Nothing “creative” with that. This just came to my mind because I went two large state schools (with large English departments) for my degrees in English, and neither department had an American drama specialist. I took one class on Arthur Miller, and it was a class that was cross listed three times with English, American Studies, and Drama. And the professor had tenure with the drama department.
  17. Given your interests, have you ever tried branching out into the interdisciplinary world of American Studies? You can still get a job in English, but it opens you to working with multiple departments. I haven’t read through all of your stuff, but the abstracts that I read seem to fit with American Studies, as well. (Also, American Drama is much less represented in English Departments. You mostly see it in drama, theatre history, and interdisciplinary American programs today—not your fault, just a growing trend.) Just my opinion
  18. Disregard this . . . They actually did send an email.
  19. That moment when you realize that you paid Rutgers $70 for a one-sentence rejection on their portal.
  20. I just said that I was curious if there were any updates with regard to when decisions would be made. It worked, and I received kind responses.
  21. I get that sending during the process itself is arduous (and would perhaps be more dehumanizing for those rejected early), but I guess I was asking why not send all the rejections at the same time when sending the acceptances—you know?
  22. Also, serious question: why is it that almost all schools send acceptances days sooner than rejections? Like, why make us all wait?
  23. I saw that one person posted a Rochester acceptance a few days ago. Do y’all feel that all acceptances have gone out and that the cohort is just smaller because of COVID-related funding issues?
  24. Taking out the “other” option on the results page was the worst decision ever. Now, I get mini heart attacks seeing waitlist decisions that are actually just questions. ?
  25. I didn’t apply for Purdue, but I think I saw some acceptances on the admissions page a few days ago. Did you see those? It also never hurts to just reach out. They’ll either assure you that no decisions have been made or end your suffering, so to speak. Good luck.
