  1. It's all good! And I would like to work in a hospital in an inpatient unit or a children's hospital. I just finished my BSW in April and was able to do a placement in a NGO and another in a hospital, so I think doing the BSW gives a great exposure to various fields one can practice social work. I hope everything works out for you
  2. I'm in the health and social care stream. Yeah, you're able to register with the Ontario College as long as it's an accredited program. Here's a link to the college with more info https://www.ocswssw.org/applicants/students_and_new_graduates/
  3. No problem! I know at McGill there are two options for placements to do it throughout the school year (September to April), or you can do a block placement in the summer with the ability to do it anywhere in Canada. For myself, that was one of the reasons I applied to have the option to do a hospital placement back in my hometown.
  4. I would suggest looking at the MSW program at McGill University. They offer three streams: Health & Social Care, Children & Families, and International & Community Development! As well as offering students a lot of opportunities to have a hospital placement. I attached a link from McGill's website that shows a list of organizations with which students had placements. I'll be starting there this fall so let me know if you have any questions :) https://www.mcgill.ca/socialwork/files/socialwork/msw_list_of_field_placements_2020.pdf
  5. Congrats on the offer! From what I have read about McGill funding for graduate students (specifically for MSW) they don't have to apply for the entrance awards / funding - it's done automatically. Here's the link with more info https://www.mcgill.ca/socialwork/funding-employment/funding/graduate/gradawards
  6. Oh, that's great to know; thanks for sharing that! Just out of curiosity, what program stream did you apply to? I selected the Health and Social Care stream. Not sure if you saw but McGill posted they're planning to go back to teaching in person for the Fall term!
  7. Thank you and congratulations to you too! I'm also doing the non-thesis program. I am not too sure about that, I think we can just contact the department directly as they may have more information about funding/scholarships. There's some information on the future graduate studies page, here's the link https://www.mcgill.ca/gradapplicants/funding
  8. Hi everyone! I just got two updates for my applications for advanced standing MSW. I have been accepted to McGill University and have been rejected by Dalhousie University. Still waiting to hear back from the University of Waterloo, University of Toronto and Ryerson University. Hope everyone is doing well!
