this is my third cycle trying and I’m so glad I never gave up. I am beyond excited for this. I want to make my kids proud!

please please don’t give up! Even if you don’t get in this round, so what..start now getting things together and ready for next cycle!

please pm me if you have any questions/feedback/tips, anything!!!! :)

That's so exciting, congratulations!!! Where will you be attending? :)

Thank you!! Would you mind sharing any tips on what to say? Trying to come off as little pushy as possible!

Sure! I normally write to my POI and say something like:

    "Dear xxx,

I'm writing to check-in regarding my waitlist status for ______'s clinical psychology doctoral program. I remain very interested in the program and your lab, and know that waitlists can sometimes change pretty quickly, so I wanted to see if you had any updates that you could share.

Thanks so much for any information that you can provide. I hope you're doing well!

    Best Regards,

    XXX"

So I'm waitlisted at one program and am considering reaching out just to show interest - when I was informed of my waitlist (unranked, btw) I replied saying I was excited. Would anyone recommend doing this again ~1.5 months later? I just don't want them to forget about me!

I definitely don't think it would hurt to reach out again. I've been waitlisted for a comparable amount of time, and I reach out for status updates every 3 weeks (just brief check-ins to see if my status has changed). I always use these check-ins as an opportunity to tell the program I'm still very interested.

Yeah - that's where I'm at....It's been since February 22nd and all I know is one person is holding the offer and I am the top alternate. I've been trying to assume the worst - I won't get it, but there is that little pilot light still holding out!

Same here! Been waiting since March 4th. I've been in touch with my potential PI, who keeps saying "if we remain a top choice, I definitely encourage you to hold off accepting other offers until we know more!" Which seems promising, but could also just be the generic language used by the department. This limbo is the worst!

Does anyone know if LIU Brooklyn is done extending acceptances? I interviewed 2/13 but have not heard anything in regards to an acceptance, waitlist, or rejection. Thanks all and hope you're all holding up alright!

To my knowledge, they've extended first round offers (I received one this past weekend). That said, I know at least one person on here declined their offer, and I likely will decline mine as well (waiting on receiving the official offer via email - if they make me an unexpectedly great financial offer, then that would obviously change things a bit lol). Feel free to DM me for POI's initials if you'd like!

I also haven't heard. I think during interview day the said anytime between mid March and April. Super fun haha.

I also haven't heard! On a similar note, did anyone else have an odd interview experience with LIU Brooklyn? My faculty interview was super intense and I actually left feeling a bit uncomfortable.

Yes!! That's part of why I'm skeptical of the post haha. My PI also told me not to expect to hear from them until March, so I was just kinda chilling until I saw that post lol

I also received that email and have not heard back post-interview. Had been in semi-frequent contact with my PI prior, so I'm hoping that if they've extended offers/made waitlist determinations, they'd at least let us know lol.

  8. My understanding is that we won't get official letters from UCSD/SDSU until we accept their offer. I received an offer from a PI in the BMed track, and they've already been in touch via email about stipend amounts, potential scholarships that might be good fits for me, etc. So if you're waiting on that information, I'd say you can definitely reach out to your PI to initiate those conversations now.
