This is SO true and that is so sad to hear. Truly makes me question it being my first choice, makes me really anxious.

I told them the same thing except with NYU. I deposited there. Columbia is my very first choice and this entire situation has honestly just made me really sad. I still really want to go there but the way this has been handled makes me doubt how much they value us coming there

Those of you who applied to Columbia Feb 15.... anything? I can't believe it's May 3rd and I still haven't heard. They told me it shouldn't be later than April 26. I'm at a loss of what to do right now :(

I was in the same situation... Columbia told me 2 more weeks, I got the extra extension from both schools, and then never heard from Columbia. I was kind of forced into making a decision I wasn't ready to make. Thankfully I am happy with where I put my deposit down, but it was quite stressful to have to deal with all of that. I hope we hear from Columbia soon, and I will attend if I am admitted there - but based on how it has gone so far, I would advise to you make a decision between two of your current schools.

I think finances is always super understandable/no hard feelings. You can just say circumstances have changed and you need to go with the more affordable option.
