I know it seems odd, but looking back at previous years, this is exactly what has happened before. Columbia is one of the biggest MSW programs in the country, and it's any Ivy, so I'd imagine both of those aspects of it draw in a lot of applications (this year they said it was their record). I'm also very anxious too and it seems like most people who applied in Feb haven't heard. But in regards to how "normal" this is, it seems like it's pretty standard for them to have to get through a lot of apps

As I wait on Columbia, I'm struggling between Penn and NYU. I want to work clinically which both are great for, and I know they are both great programs with similar rankings (Penn being slightly higher). I would prefer to be in NYC over Philly but am drawn to Penn of course because it's an Ivy and very well respected. Is grad school all about location? Any thoughts on this? (Cost is same for me)

I simply explained my situation to them w waiting for deposits and asked for a timeline. Pretty standard

I'm in the same boat except with Penn... NYU gave me until the end of the month. Still not sure where I'd go between these two.

For those waiting on Columbia: I emailed last night and received a response this afternoon. For regular decision applicants, I was told it could be another 2 week delay. It might not be ideal but I’m glad I got a transparent answer.

I just emailed Columbia asking for a timeline given that my deposit extensions for Penn and NYU are due in a few days and I don't even know where I'd pick between those 2 right now. I know I'll probably get the same response that everyone else has, I'm hoping for a bit more clarity. Fingers crossed!

Has anyone who applied to Columbia in Feb (regular deadline) heard from them in terms of a timeline? I know that their email from months ago said up to 8 weeks, but I may reach out to them if I don't hear by the end of week since I have deposit extensions and would like a more specific date.

Me too. It is creating a lot of anxiety for me... my deposit extensions are for 4/15, and even for those 2, I am having a hard time deciding. Columbia is my top choice.

No. I applied 2/14 and may reach out to them this week due to the approaching deposit extensions I have at 2 other schools.

Columbia is my first choice and I'm still waiting anxiously. For me, Columbia is exciting because it's in NYC, it's ranked #3 for the best MSW programs in the country, it's a bigger program with so much access to amazing field/research opportunities (800+ agencies), highest licensure passing rate in NY, 20,000 alumni, and I won't lie, the prestigious Ivy League title is of course attractive. Crossing my fingers.

Has anyone who applied to Columbia in February heard from them about when exactly we should expect to hear back? I got a deposit extension for other choices until 4/15 and am anxious/wondering if this is enough time.

Yes - I did reach out to them but haven't gotten a response yet. Did you apply priority or regular? 2 weeks is soon! I applied in February

Right. Columbia is my top choice, but I've been accepted to my 2nd and 3rd choice and need to ask for extensions. It just gives me a lot of anxiety, because even if I get extensions, there's still a chance I won't hear back in time.
