I think it really depends on which schools you're waitlisted at, and whether any of those schools is your top choice. If you're eventually admitted and you know you're definitely going no matter what, then I'd suggest contacting them to express your thoughts and see where you stand on their waitlist. If you're uncertain about whether you'll accept the offer once they admit you, then I would consider other options like working or reapplying next year, etc. It's a two-year investment in yourself—both time and money—so I wouldn't just pick one, especially when the choices are limited. I first applied in 2021 and, sadly, I was rejected by all of them, so technically I didn't have any choices. 🥲 But I reapplied this year with a much better portfolio and was accepted to all of my top choices, which allowed me to make a very informed and satisfying decision. Anyway, it also depends on your own situation and how much you want to be in school right now. I hope this helps.

Does anyone have any luck negotiating financial offers with RISD?

Besides, they got a bunch of waitlist applicants, so I mean, what's the point of waitlisting if they can't even provide enough space for admitted students.

I wouldn't worry about it too much unless you've set your mind on MICA, I got the very similar statement from my SVA acceptance in mid-Feb and as far as I know I can still submit the deposit now. I think it's a trick to speed up the process somehow. I personally would suggest you to make a informed decision so don't let them get into your head😂.

Nope. Applied for LeRoy E. Hoffberger and I did not receive any personalized email so far. Three emails of "Stay connected" type of instructions but no interview invitation nor admission results😂

I don't know about graphic design but I heard back from VCU painting program yesterday about admission status.

Got a strange email from SAIC inviting me to apply for housing and it said Congrats on my new admission to SAIC... but I never received any acceptance letters or calls from them. Anyone else got this? I am so confused😅 I applied for painting btw.

I think acron24 meant negative comments in the forum about CMU, there was a couple of long posts stating CMU has a horrible and abusive program...

I can't clearly recall any questions asked because they were tailored to my work/statement and the phrasing was somehow confusing. I was also asked the pedagogy question that was brought up by @b4wegather(thank you for remembering the question and the phrasing) but I was not asked why graduate/why Yale question. Mine went pretty bad in my opinion because I was extremely nervous and the questions were so deep and specific that in no way I could've prepared them in advance. So I was improvising from start to end. Felt more like a very intensive critique.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE!! Same experience for me here. I could totally relate. By the way I don't know if you got asked the DEI question, but I was not expecting it and I did not practice at all. And I was super nervous I felt like I didn't even know what I was talking about. But anyways, it is done, can't do anything to it. Just have to cross my fingers and hope for the best. Don't worry about it, I think even if the interview stinks, the portfolio still worth some points in the decision. 🫠

I believe I received something like that when I first applied in 2021. I got invited to interview this year so not a success yet but definitely a step closer.
