  1. Thank you! I got accepted to Dal months ago and accepted it, paid the deposit, and started mentally preparing that that's where I would be going. At first I thought that if I got accepted to Western or U of T I would choose them instead and cut my losses with the deposit (I live in Toronto), but I ended up getting really excited about going to Dal. My decision may be a more personal one than what others may be considering, but I did my undergrad at Western, so I wanted to get a new experience elsewhere. I have heard incredible things about Halifax and Dalhousie in particular, and I just think I will really love being there. I have never been to the East Coast, so I'm excited for a new adventure.
  2. I just got rejected from York's 2 year MSW program. I was offered admissions to Dalhousie and Western/King's (I accepted Dal), waitlisted at U of T and Carleton, and rejected from UVic. I'm glad I've heard back from all the schools I applied to now. Best of luck to everyone still waiting to hear from waitlists - I know it can be really stressful. In case people are still interested in backgrounds, I have a BA Honours Specialization in Psychology, my GPA was 3.75, and I have thousands of hours of experience, mainly working with children with special needs and a lot of research experience.
  3. Does anyone know if there's a Facebook group for Dalhousie 2 year MSW? Would love to connect with some people before starting!
  4. They sent me two emails yesterday. The first one was from gradapps and said that I was offered admission to the MSW 2 year program and that a formal offer of admission will be generated for me in the next 24 hours and available on Student Center. The second one was from Rachel Braden (Social Work Program Liaison) and said "Congratulations! We are happy to offer you a spot in our 2-year MSW program. By now you should have received a formal offer through your Western student center. While we ask that you go on to your student center and click “accept”, we also need you to read and sign the attached document if you wish to accept the offer. You can return the signed documents to Deanna Bond, cc’d on this email. Please do so by June 3, 2021."
  5. I got taken off the waitlist and accepted to Western/King's 2 year program today. I already accepted Dalhousie so I will be declining my spot.
  6. Thank you so much! I actually did accept it already and paid my deposit when I heard in February because they only gave two weeks to accept and I knew I wouldn't hear back from other schools by then. I'm likely going to revoke my acceptance to Dal if I get accepted to U of T.
  7. I got wait listed at U of T at 6:21pm EST. My last name starts with K. My heart goes out to all of you who haven't heard yet - it's been a stressful time! I also got wait listed at Western and Carleton, rejected from Victoria, and accepted to Dalhousie.

  9. Someone in the other forum posted the email they got when they were waitlisted and it said the waitlist is not ranked.
  10. I did this to improve my overall GPA. I did my undergraduate degree at Western and the only way I was able to take courses and for it to count towards the GPA of my undergrad degree was to do it at Western (I tried to transfer to U of T since I live in Toronto and they said you can't do that). I was able to register as a "Special Student" and take courses. I took three half-year courses and although I got very high marks, it only slightly improved my GPA. I don't mean to sound discouraging if you are looking to improve your overall GPA, rather than just in specific courses - this is just my experience. The universities that I was applying to at the time recommended that I do another degree if I wanted to significantly improve my GPA, which I did not end up doing.
  11. Thank you both! This is what mine shows: SGS says "Under Review".
  12. Thank you! I was able to log in to ACORN. Where exactly would I see my admission status? On the dashboard it says "Today's Timetable", "Key Sessional Dates", "Academics", and "Finances" but no information for any of them. Will this change once I hear from them or is there somewhere else I should be able to see my admission status?
  13. I see a lot of people saying that they've been checking "Acorn" for U of T admissions. Can someone please tell me what that is? I applied for the 2-year MSW and I have just been checking SGS.
  14. Yes you can. I'm not sure if UWindsor asks for a deposit, but you may have to pay to secure your spot. I know that's the case with Dalhousie. So if you don't mind losing your deposit, then go for it!
  15. I received the initial letter about being "recommended for acceptance" by mail, and then the acceptance letter by email. I'm sorry, I'm not sure what that means for you. If they are still contacting you to get more information on your address, I would continue waiting. Have you tried reaching out to the department about your concerns? I tried contacting them to ask some questions about accepting their offer, and it took them over a week to get back to me. They did not answer the phone or return calls after leaving voicemails, and I tried to email different people. In the end, Lisa Parsons (social.work@dal.ca) got back to me via email the day after I sent a follow-up email. Maybe try emailing her?
  16. Thank you! Yes I am a domestic applicant.
  17. I do not have a BSW and I got accepted to Dal on February 23rd via e-mail. I got a letter in the mail from them first on February 9th saying that I was "recommended for acceptance" but the final decision would be made by the Dean.
