  1. This same thing happened with me with UNO, that red X... I emailed and asked if I should send it again. They said, nope, we have it and you are under review. The red X remains to this day. I think at some point in the process they just quit updating the portals. Good luck, Cristie
  2. Do you ever just wonder if your name is on a white board in a room somewhere and someone is holding the dry erase marker as the roundtable discusses your fate? Like the cap is off while the debate is going on and someone stands there waiting to draw that red line. Or is it yes and no stacks in massive piles on that table? HOW does it happen--this process about my future? If they had a live stream...I'd be Netflixing that shit 24/7. Do you guys have these kinds of thoughts too or am I just losing it staring at my email/phone and waiting?
  3. Yes and in 3 places it says "Under Review." I have two transcripts. All green. It says it next to where they got them and then below that where it says "Transcripts Received". Maybe I should just go with not believing in the great portal...it's like the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!
  4. And I don't get that, I'm a double major honors student--so it's not my GPA.
  5. Yes, everything is there. All green. What does yours say?
  6. Oh yeah, check out Spacedumpster's post. That's recent.
  7. Mine says it next to transcripts. I don't know what to think of that. Let me know if your says that too.
  8. Correction, see Spacedumpster's post. That's the first one I've seen.
  9. See Spacedumpster's post. I don't know how to forward it to you. I didn't hear anything Friday but that's the first acceptance post I've seen for UF.
  10. HA HA, this made my day. I straight up submitted to them, The Sun, and USA Hockey. I need a t-shirt. Random Submissions...or something, lol.
  11. University of Florida---my portal still says "Under Review" and I've heard nothing from them. But word on here is that they have already sent out. I prefer to not give up hope and wait to see it in black and white. And I've seen no big announcements here. (Try the search bar on here and see if that pulls up any) Florida State--Rejected. Not sure about the other Florida schools or which one you were asking about. Hope that helps but I'm pretty new here. Good luck, Cristie
  12. That's 4...can we make it 5???
  13. So that's three then: Fairbanks, McNeese, and Alabama. Anyone know of any others to add to that list? I'd like to know for the next round just in case. Cristie
  14. It kind of makes me feel like getting dumped and then...well, again....and again. It's not you it's me, lol.
  15. It's funny that the ONLY two schools that offer this option are so insanely far apart, literally the top and the bottom of my world. So it's freeze your a off or sweat it off and swat mosquitoes (sigh). Clearly, I went for the heat but yeah, saw that when I was searching. I did find a few others that do a dual certificate program but I've never really heard much about how certificates play out in the job world. You? And good luck, BUUURRRR. Hope you have one of those "Alaska" hats. Cristie
  16. My Florida State one was like that too, BRUTAL. Ouch-worthy.
  17. Yeah, when I got rejected by (like the ONLY northern school I applied to) I consoled myself with, well, THAT Wind...would have sucked, but hey, y'all have HOCKEY up there and we just eat, sleep, breathe football down here (Woo Pig Sooie). I will say it was THE nicest rejection letter ever-followed up by a very personal email about my work, and they asked me to apply again with a waived fee next round. I'm not sure if that's normal?
  18. I'd have to relocate too but I'm not far from there (in Arkansas). This may sound dumb but I didn't love the idea of a "Concrete College" and parking hassles. McNeese has a very pretty campus, lots of old trees. And yes, the food is a big plus but the cost of living is so much better than some of these other places. There are the hurricanes though... If you hear from them would you please let me know, that's my #1 Choice. I did hear "tough nut to crack" also. Many thanks, Cristie
  19. SHHHHH.....lol. Yes McNeese. I bought one of the instructor's books and read it. LOVED. I just don't get why all these other schools don't do that too. I haven't heard from them yet or seen on here if anyone else has. Clearly...you did YOUR homework too ha ha. Cristie
  20. I completely agree. Over here cheering on the "crappy, but my style" schools! Jazz nearly killed me.
  21. You really have to teach yourself unfortunately, by the end of this process, I feel like I should be putting a bullet point on my CV that says, "Professional Graduate School Applicant" because that's honestly what I feel like. It's like a second job. I suggest really researching each one and ones you've never considered too. I found one school I really want in because they offer the MA in English dual with the MFA in Creative Writing and why NOT get TWO at the same time! I can't find a single other school that does that (?) and am amazed that I don't see that school mentioned here (and only a few times on the thread search). No one told me about that, I had to find it on my own. So I say depend on no one to teach you, I used Poet & Writer's list to help me narrow down deadlines and full-funding. Good Luck! Cristie
  22. I got some advice from a professor and he said to apply to schools that once you research their faculty, read their works and styles... and then figure out what appeals to you about them. To really make sure it is a good fit for YOU and not just a big name. That there are some really awesome instructors at other schools. Not everyone (who teaches and has a family) wants to pay for the crazy cost of living where those big name schools are. He said ideally apply to 5 dream schools and 5 realistic schools. I also don't want to go to a school where they refer to you as a number (like that's #3, or there goes #4) cough..Iowa.
  23. Hi, My plan is if I don't get funding to try to find a full time job at the school-as long as they offer tuition discount to full time employees.. so you are getting paid and a deep discount. Most have a lot of listings on their employment pages. If you REALLY want to go, work a year and while there, also work towards applying for everything you possibly can for the second year. And most universities have really great benefits too. Sometimes the schedule doesn't work out but most professors I've worked for are willing to work around class schedules or work something out. Just a thought. Good Luck, Cristie
  24. Huh and fooey, know anything about nonfiction? I haven't heard anything at all from them. Thanks for letting me know. Many thanks, Cristie
