I’ll share the general formula I used for most of my LOI: Intro: I am writing to you to express my interest in applying _____. My experiences have led me to this degree. First Paragraph: Experience - My exposure to public health via undergrad. - Habitat for Humanity to make a positive impact on the housing insecurity crisis in Alabama. - Skills I gained from researching with two profs. - I decided to complete a thesis project. Second Paragraph: Butter them up a little + tell them how their program will help you - I read up about the program on their website and mentioned courses that would help me succeed in my career. Conclusion: - Summarize the two body paragraphs and tell them what I can do for their program (i.e. how I plan to contribute to the student body and program).

Nothing special tbh. Final 2 years average is +85%. First 2 years were atrocious. Retook my stats course (first time I got a C, second time I got an A). Working at a clinic on and off for a couple of years. Volunteer at a hospital in first year. Research with two professors but neither has been published yet. A Habitat for Humanity trip to Alabama. I am currently working on a thesis. I think what really helped me was my letter of intent.

I’m going to wait to hear back from other schools before I accept. I have until the 19th of April.

Just got an offer from Queen’s MPH!

Me too! An email from an academic officer at uOttawa told me to send expect a response in the month of May ? Such a long wait and it’s my top choice.

According to an email from McMaster MPH, all responses should be sent out by mid-week!
