    I notice some people upload where they're applying to their signatures and then remove them later.. any idea why? Should I really care that people *could* find out who I am and where I'm applying?

      It's a personal choice. I think anyone who wanted to could probably figure out who I am. I'm not saying anything here I wouldn't say publicly. If you aren't terribly worried about being identified and how it might impact your online presence, do what you want.

      Could be for more privacy/anonymity,especially from adcoms or future colleagues. Or maybe they don't want others to consider applying to the same schools. Maybe someone doesn't know a program exists until they see it on your signature and they decide to apply too.

      I just did this... I did it because I know how easy it is to piece together information about people. I realized that listing the programs made me far less anonymous. Why stay anonymous? Because I've used these forums as a place to vent my feelings and I can't say for sure how much of that I'd want attributed to my real person. Also, I don't want my classmates to find me on here, lol
