  1. Individuals, Families, and Groups! However, I have committed to UW for clinical so I will be declining their offer!
  2. I am still awaiting on fresno state, uc berkeley, and sfsu
  3. I received a decision for Portland (waitlisted) and then accepted to UW. I put down my deposit for UW because it was my #1 school. However, still wondering if any of you guys were accepted to Portland- then what were your stats? I had a 3.8 GPA getting my BSW, 2000 hours, solid references. Im surprised I was waitlisted but not a big deal.
  4. Congrats! I also applied for SFSU, when did you receive notification?
  5. I received a decision for the advanced standing program.
  6. thats what I figured. I just want them to be quicker lmao
  7. Anyone hear anything yet from SFSU, Fresno, Berkeley, Portland, or UW yet?
  8. My first year in the program, they could not find any field placements for probably half of the students. We were having to do alternative assignments without any guidance on it. Now during the second year, about 80% of us are in placements but the 20% who are without placements are facing not being able to graduate. They are refusing to give alternative assignments. But those without placements are not able to look for placements themselves. So its due to the programs own negligence that these people wont graduate. We have advisors for our field placements and in order to apply for Hunters MSW program, our advisors are supposed to submit an evaluation to the school (this also goes for columbia and NYU) however I'm not sure if these advisors have submitted it for anyone. This is why I had to pull back applying to Columbia's priority deadline. My professor in my second semester probably taught one full class, and we had a meeting with the dean of the program who pretty much just stood up for the professor who never showed up. The dean of the program also told a student "you need to listen" while pointing at her ears because the student asked a clarifying question. There is so much wrong with the program and those who run the program. I'm not entirely sure if it is the same for the MSW program. I do know that the MSW students have protested against the school in 2020 for how they were handling situations.
  9. I am in Hunters BSW program currently, and I would suggest you stay away at all costs from Hunters programs. It is affordable, but within the last few years, Hunters SSW has gone down hill. They are not what they used to be pre-covid.
  10. Have submitted almost half of my applications, I am anxiously waiting now!
  11. Submitted my application to berkeley yesterday, now the waiting game...
  12. I am actually having this same exact issue, and with an application due tomorrow, I am not sure what I am going to do.
  13. That is the length I have for mine! I didn't see anywhere where it said the length of the essays! But now that you say that, I wonder if my resume is formatted correctly! Thank you so much for your help!
  14. How long was your statement of purpose and personal history statement for berkely? I am nervous mine is too short, but I also don't want it to be too long either.
  15. I am applying for a few CSUs (CSUMB, FRESNO, SFSU) but I am hoping on UW Seattle! I'm kind of nervous, I have a 3.8 GPA, getting my BSW from Hunter College, but I don't have a ton of social work hours. I did 80 hours at an LGBTQ center for a semester at CC, worked at a group home full time working with disabled clients (around 1200 hours) and will have 400 hours from my BSW program. I noticed when MSW programs show their stats that most of their students have many more hours of experience than I do. So thats the main thing I am worried about.
  16. My experience has been neglect from the staff. There are still so many students without field placements and they don't allow us to find our own. But they are threatening us by saying if we don't get our hours we won't graduate. I had a professor who lived upstate with no internet and we didn't have one full class with her. We spoke to the head of the department and she did nothing other than telling us we will all get As. One of the classes we did have with her was just her crying in the middle of the woods. It was a very weird experience, and shes my professor again this semester. The BSW program is really just a serious case of neglect. I don't know many experiences from those in the MSW program but last year the MSW students protested against the education they were receiving (I don't have many more details though). If you go to an information session, ask them to set you up with a current student.
  17. If you want more information, don't hesitate to ask!
  18. Be weary of Hunter...I'm in their current BSW program and since the pandemic all of silberman has gone down hill, unfortunately. Most of us in the BSW program are refusing to even apply for their MSW program.
  19. Anyone have any information on CSUMB? I'm kind of nervous because I haven't seen much but I have spoken to people who have gone to CSUMB (not for an MSW) and they love it. I go to Hunter and have a 3.8 GPA so I'm sure I can get into better but I love the area and the cost.
