  1. Just heard from CSUEB that I was waitlisted. I've already decided to go to Berkeley because the location is better for me, but I'm pretty surprised--I assumed CSUEB would be easier to get into. Just goes to show you can't predict where you'll get in!
  2. In early March I heard that I got into Berkeley, but I still haven't heard from CSUEB! My GPA was 3.23 (and not in anything related to social work) but I have a lot of work experience.
  3. I'm in the same boat but a poster above said they were offered a fellowship by email, so...yeah, sounds like we did not get one. Still a chance of getting one from an admitted student who decides to go somewhere else, but the chances were small in the first place. I haven't heard anything about financial aid either (calconnect says there is "no financial aid info to show"), but that info might come later?
  4. How did you hear about the fellowship--via email? I'm not sure how to tell if I got offered anything or not.
  5. Did anyone hear info about scholarships/grants/financial aid from Berkeley? I think we were supposed to hear by the end of this week, and I'm not sure if no news is bad news, or just delayed.
  6. For what it's worth, I usually see the advice in the social work subreddit that you should go to the cheapest school because one accredited SW program is not significantly better than another, your internship is more important, and SW jobs don't care where you went to school. Here's a thread discussing it:
  7. I heard that I got into Berkeley about an hour ago. It was an email telling me to log into the application, thereby drawing out the suspense as long as possible! I applied to A-WELL. I graduated college in 2011 and my stats weren't great (3.23 GPA, non-SS major), but I have over 10 years work experience so I guess that compensated. Also, I am disabled and my experience/interest is in supporting people with disabilities, which may be relevant to Berkeley. The letter said that info about financial support will be sent separately and didn't say when ? Hopefully everyone will hear soon!
  8. Hmm, that makes it sound like offers will be sent out before March 15, not after...here's hoping people will start hearing next week!
  9. Re Berkeley, I’ve thought way too much about this, and come to the conclusion that it’s impossible to know! (Unless someone wants to email them.) In 2021: a. The website said applicants would hear by March 1 b. A poster reached out to the school and was told actually, applicants would hear by March 15 c. Posters began hearing on March 2 In 2022: a. The website says applicants will hear by March 15 b. As far as I know, nobody has reached out to check this date c. As of March 4, no posters have heard from Berkeley
  10. I applied to Berkeley and from looking at the threads last year, hopefully we'll start hearing in March? The first comments about hearing from Berkeley last year were around March 2. Though of course it could be different this year.
  11. Well, she basically said not to worry, there isn't one right way and I could just format it the best way to show the information. The length info is in these instructions: https://socialwelfare.berkeley.edu/admissions/msw-admissions/msw-admissions-application-instructions
  12. Ha, I'm a very long-winded person so I had trouble cutting my personal history statement down to 2 pages! My statement of purpose was 4 pages. I doubt they care as long as you follow the directions on length. But maybe going to the zoom admissions advising office hours would be reassuring? I zoomed in to them last month, and the admissions advisor was really nice and gave concrete answers (in my case, to questions about how to format my resumé). https://socialwelfare.berkeley.edu/admissions/admissions-advising-and-recruiting
  13. I didn't see a topic for this. I just finished applying to UC Berkeley and Cal State East Bay. (Still a month left for SF State if I change my mind and apply there, but it seems WAY harder to get into, while being less in line with my interests.) So many months of waiting ahead, ugh!
  14. Thanks! i did get a response confirming this and fortunately, getting a transcript from another country was not as hard as I thought.
  15. I'm finishing up my resumé to apply for a MSW program. In addition to my work experience and education, I would like to include that I'm involved in the disability community and contributed to a couple disability-related anthologies and websites. I can't find a simple example of how to do this, and formats for listing professional publications don't seem quite right--especially because I contributed multiple pieces to each anthology, and listing the title of each piece would be unnecessary and long. My inclination is just to put something like this: Disability Website Whose Subject is Obvious From the Name URL of website Contributor 2015-present Disability Anthology Whose Subject is Also Obvious From the Name (2018) Name of Publisher Contributor Do you think that would look all right? When I've gone to info sessions they have made it sound like they're not too strict about the resumé formatting, but I don't know if this looks totally gauche.
