Where did you encounter that question about ranking faculty? Was that at an interview?
Many schools have a question on their application like: Please list any other colleges / universities to which you have applied or intend to apply.
Most of the time, this question is not mandatory to answer.
Does anyone know anything about this like is it an answer the schools expect you to complete? Does it help/hurt the applicant? Do you think/know whether it's for statistical purposes for the school or if they actually take the answer into account when judging the applicant?

in all my research and all my conversations with people, its emphasized that its quality over quantity. if adding the extra work will weaken the portfolio bc the additions are not strong enough, I wouldn't do it
Letters of Recommendation: if someone selects "I agree to waive my right to view this recommendation", does that help or hurt them as an applicant? Is it expected that we waive our right?
