I just heard back from Northwestern IBiS, got a call from my PI of interest which I was not expecting! Not really a computational biology program but that's what I would be doing in this lab. Seems they currently have plans for in person interviews but plans are likely to change.
@fred2000 Yes I'd like the majority of my work to be on dry lab projects, though I am not afraid of a little wet lab stuff to get good data. There are several PI's I'm interested in rotating with, so I think I would follow their advice on choosing a specialty. I am pretty confident bioinformatics is what I want to do long-term, so that's what I'll be pushing for.
@fred2000So the way it works there is you apply to BBSP, then choose one of their 14 programs after a year of rotations. One of their programs is Bioinformatics & Computational Biology.
Finished applying last night!
Cornell (GGD)
Georgia Tech (Bioinformatics)
NC Chapel Hill (BCB)

CSHL (it was free, why not)
Good luck everyone
