  1. Has anybody heard back from the Georgetown Biostatistics / Bioinformatics Ph.D. program ? I see from GC that they usually send their interview invites pretty late (first-second week of Feb) but haven't seen anything come in yet.
  2. Yeah, I believe interview invites were sent last week. You can check on the results page: https://www.thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php
  3. I got an interview for USC QCB on Jan 11. Interviews are happening on Jan 28 or Feb 4.
  4. I heard from the CMU-Pitt comp bio program and they asked to set up an interview in the next 2-3 days. This also means they're not doing batches but rather interviewing as they review applications. If you applied, keep your head up! You might hear back soon.
  5. Does anybody know if the Joint CMU-Pitt CMB Program is still sending out invites ? I see some scattered invites on GC results page so I'm not sure.
  6. UC Berkeley usually sends out invites at the end of January and I know that they haven't sent out interviews yet so keep your head up!
  7. MIT Biology sent out interviews last week. There's a big bunch you can check on grad cafe.
  8. Also wondering about Harvard BIG honestly. I asked a faculty member just after christmas and he had no idea about it either. I have heard from people on reddit that they're behind on their evaluations but not sure if they've sent out interviews already since GC doesn't have anything.
  9. Yeah, I got the same email and I don't know what this means. At the end of the email it says: "P.S. All Applications are closed and under review" I guess they just meant to convey rejections and interviews together in a couple weeks since they haven't finished reviewing. But again, I'm trying to be optimistic here.
  10. By the way, Just found out NYU Vilcek doesn't sent interviews in batches but rather in a sequence over time from December to February so a lot of hope there ! Good luck to all !
  11. You just have to play your cards right and put in some extra effort as well. As someone mentioned above, don't apply to programs that have very little acceptance rates. It's just not the worth the time and money. Stanford BMI has very low acceptance of international students as an example. Spread out your choices as well and reach out to professors. At the end, as long as you get into a well-funded program, your research during your PhD will define your career trajectory. The name of the school itself will not be as important.
  12. Well, I think more than half of the programs (atleast on my list) still haven't sent out invitations so I think there's a lot that can still come out of this season. Don't assume anything until end of January. Just based on history on grad cafe, some first batch of invites are sent out in early February as well (eg. Georgetown). Keep you head up!
  13. Yeah they did. Although I can't afford to pay their tuition unless they give me a scholarship.
  14. Just got rejected from Tri-I CBM. I'm a little sad cos it was one of my top choices but whatever. Looks like they sent a bunch of rejections today.
  15. Has anybody heard from NYU Vilcek who also applied to their Systems and Computational Biomedicine program? I see some scattered interview invites on grad cafe throughout the last couple weeks but I haven't heard anything myself.
  16. @Bioenglover Hey! I know this is frustrating but they apparently give importance to so many other things as well such as your motivations, SOP, your transcripts, diversity, socio-economic background, and many more internal things like the number of students they recruit per speciality track within each program. On the admissions portal, they actually have courses listed + years of academic experience they expect in each one of those courses. I recently got rejected from UW MCB and it made no sense to me because I thought I had the perfect profile for their cancer biology specialization but then life had other plans. Keep your head up! At the end of the day, we'll all get into at least Tier 1 programs and none of these names will actually matter.
  17. @Starfleet Scientist @lowkey_surviver Here is the results page: https://www.thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php
  18. I believe it was a mass email from their general phd email account. I think it was a big batch of interview invites + rejections all together.
  19. Princeton doesn't do interview requests from POIs. It's all handled by the coordinator. Grad Cafe has quite a few QCB interviews from last week.
  20. Yeah, Princeton QCB sent out invites last week I believe.
  21. It matters for some schools like Icahn or Case Western where the review process starts in Sep/Oct and interviews are sent on a rolling basis. Most schools don't start reviews until second week of December.
