  1. Has anyone still not received an email about funding?
  2. To be honest, I did not think my Medill interview went well, so I wouldn't jump to a conclusion yet, but that's awesome that you feel good about Columbia! I actually think I'm leaning toward UC Berkeley at this point, but still waiting for their email about fin aid. If it's too expensive, I'll probably go to BU as I got a good offer there and could TA there as well.
  3. Just got the call from Northwestern. They included an acceptance letter in the admissions portal and will follow up with fin aid info by next Friday!
  4. Also just got the call! Accidentally hung up on Ed Wasserman (oops!) and was hysterical on the phone. Best of luck to everyone!
  5. Just in case anyone else was nervous when they didn't receive a decision from BU on Thursday as it seems like some folks did, I just received a letter of admission today, so it seems like they didn't all go out at once!
  6. Saaaame. I decided pretty last minute to submit and was really scrambling. Oh well! We did the best we could with the time we thought we had!
  7. It's kinda frustrating, especially when they told us early March. I know it doesn't work like this, but I really feel like they owe us information at this point gah! I've called the admissions office twice and no one picked up, and after leaving a voicemail over a week ago, no one has returned my call. ://
  8. @GradSchool2222Still nothing but will update here if I hear anything!
  9. Gah literally same. Truly made me less interested in attending (and yes so expensive!!). I like to think if they put such little effort in getting to know their applicants and electing not to do interviews, the Kira assessment can't carry too much weight but I guess we'll see. I actually live in Boston now and am feeling readyish to leave, but I haven't heard back from any J schools yet so still want to hope for the best all around!
  10. @GradCat2022haven't heard anything but will update if I do. Neurotically checking my inbox and application portals multiple times a day lol. Also this was way back when but just wanted to say I also thought the Kira assessment was horrible. Just an awful design, questions that I truly thought were stupid and unhelpful. The whole thing was way more impersonal and anxiety producing than an interview imho.
  11. They told me decisions will be coming out in early March. If anyone gets a call or any news, I'd be eager to hear!
  12. Just as an update, I got contacted last night for a 20-min interview on Tuesday.
  13. Thank you--that's helpful! I'll let you know if I hear anything.
  14. Just wondering if anyone has received a request to interview at for Berkeley's school of journalism yet. Seems like that fact that UC Berkeley extended the deadline to apply to March 6 and adjusted the admissions timeline on their website means everything is happening a little later. I guess I'm just getting kind of nervous because interview requests had mostly gone out by this time last year based on previous forums, but I haven't heard anything.
  15. @GradCat2022 Just saw that UC Berkeley also extended their deadline to March 6...deadline was originally Dec 1! Wonder why schools are doing this.
  16. Curious if anyone has heard anything about interviews for Berkeley.
  17. Oh yeah--I definitely still think it's worth going I applied to Magazine at Medill as well! Also need to do an interview for them...and have really been putting off my Kira assessment. I honestly hate the way it's designed (feels so unnatural, at least doing the practice questions!), but I bet you did better than you think.
  18. Hi! I decided pretty last minute to apply to J-school this round. Threw together an application to Berkeley last month...now finishing up apps to Medill and Boston University. I was an anthropology major as an undergrad, then spent 2 years working in a public health research institute in Boston. That job ended during the pandemic, so I started freelance writing. I've published a fair amount of clips in the last year, but don't have much formal journalism training, hence the application to J-school. To be honest, I've talked to a lot of folks in the industry who have discouraged me from applying because you can theoretically learn how to be a journalist without paying tuition, but I kind of feel like some formal training and making connections will help a lot more than the sporadic opportunities I've landed as a freelancer. Will be interested to hear more from everyone!
