  1. Finally got reject from UMass Amherst and U of Pittsburgh last week.
  2. Got rejection from NYU yesterday. I'm now just waiting on Upitt and UMass Amherst, and technically Northeastern (I know acceptances have already gone out, so I'm pretty sure I didn't get a spot, I was on the shortlist so I think they might be waiting to see if someone doesn't accept offer - but their funding package is insanely good (40K) so I don't expect that). At this point, it's not looking like I'm going to get in this round, my plan is to find some sort of museum/public history job for a year and reapply next cycle.
  3. Has anyone heard anything from Umass Amherst, University of Pittsburgh, NYU, or Northeastern? I went to the Northeastern event for those on the shortlist, they said it would be 1-2 weeks with a decision (which it has been), but I still haven't heard anything.
  4. No, I live too far away and honestly the 300 $ reimbursement their offering wouldn't cover hotel + travel. I am also not super interested in the program (although faculty is great - why I applied), I just don't really want be in middle of nowhere Illinois for 4+ years.
  5. Yeah I got waitlisted a few weeks ago.
  6. Got an email from Northeastern saying that I'm considered a "top candidate" (made shortlist) for acceptance in the the PhD program. They want me to come to their "per-admissions event" in a few weeks. They are reimbursing my flight from and to Boston and paying for a hotel room for my stay. The itinerary says I will get a chance to meet faculty, other PhD students, and tour the campus. The whole things seems a little odd, especially that their paying for my room and flight given I haven't officially been accepted. Does anyone else have any experience with this at NU or in general?
  7. I am currently looking for good Ph.D programs in gender history, or something similar (WGS, gender studies with history focus etc). Some specifics I am looking for: -Full-funding with stipend -open to applicants with only BA (no masters) -fairly open location wise, but I'm fairly broke- so cheaper average rent would be a plus. Thanks in advance for any advice!
  8. Hi everyone, I am currently a junior in my BA (history) program, and I recently realized that I need to be looking at grad programs for fall 2023 (my graduation is in the spring). My goal is to go into academia, and I want to pursue a Ph.D in history. I have read mix things about applying right to ph.d program without a masters, and my main interest in going right into that would be to save the money of the master (I know they are generally not funded). How impossible is it that I could get into a fully-funded Ph.D program in History with only a BA? I have a high gpa (4.0 currently), and I go to SUNY Geneseo, which around Upstate NY is considered "prestigious" (although I doubt how prestigious it seems outside of ny). I would like to go out of NYS for it, and am open to going anywhere but the south (I'm a queer athesist so). I realize this is probably unlikely, but I wanted to know the forum's advice. Thanks,
