  1. I’m currently a first year at UPenn AAMW studying near eastern archaeology, feel free to ask me anything or DM me!
  2. Haha I have been summoned! So happy to see some near eastern folks on here. I did not apply through classics anywhere, but all nelc or interdisciplinary programs, and am currently at UPenn AAMW PhD.
  3. Hello Everyone! I am a first year PhD in Art and Archaeology of the Mediterranean World as UPenn. Good luck to everyone with their applications, and feel free to reach out with any questions or advice since I am only a year out from the application process! I specialize in Ancient Near Eastern Archaeology! Also, anyone here is Ancient Near Eastern Speciality (since we don't have our on subpage) Hello!
  4. Nice, you must be the Roman-ist then. Lauren said they only accepted 2 this year, so you and me. If you have any questions about the program let me know. I visited in November and got a full tour and met the faculty. Are you going to the prospectives weekend in a few weeks? (Feel free to DM me)
  5. Hi everyone! Just wanted to say that I just received my official acceptance into the Art and Archaeology of the Mediterranean World (AAMW) PhD at the University of Pennsylvania. I did not receive an email, I just checked my portal and saw the acceptance letter! This was my top choice and I am almost positive I will be accepting. They did not say how many people the accepted, but based on prior conversations I think they were only accepting 2 or 3 this year, but I do not know.
  6. Hello, I am not doing religious studies, but Near Eastern Archaeology. I applied to: John Hopkins Near Eastern Studies Brown Joukowsky institute of Archaeology and the Ancient World UPenn Art and Archaeology of the Mediterranean World (Interviewed Jan 18th) Chicago Middle Eastern Studies (MA)
  7. Im sorry! Stay positive and let's hope for the best for the other schools you applied to.
  8. Hey! I know that Brown JIAAW (archaeology) does send out interviews, but has not yet this year (should be within next two weeks) As for the Brown Anthro or Sociology programs, I do not know if they normally send out interviews. I would check the results page from years past and see if they do and around when.
  9. Absolutely! I had emailed back and forth with a PI at Brown, and from past years it looks like interview invites will go out in the next two weeks, so fingers crossed. What is your area of interest? And good luck with your applications!
  10. Thanks! Yeah, in my email correspondence I had with Lauren (the graduate chair) she said they had selected all who they wanted to interview and were interviewing everyone by the end of this week.
  11. From what I have heard, Brown sends out interview invites last week of January or first week of February, and they only accept students that they interview. So fingers crossed for both of us for the coming weeks!
  12. Oh yayy!! I was told at the end of my interview that I should hear from Lauren (the chair) "soon". Been stressing all week over what "soon" means haha. Best of luck to you, and here is hoping that we both get accepted and maybe get to be classmates! (p.s. did you apply to Brown JIAAW as well?)
  13. Know this post was made a while ago, but just wanted to chime in to say absolutely agree with Archaeologist_1_2_3, but to also add UCLA to the list if you are interested in the whole Mediterranean. Aaron Burke works a lot with the Bronze Age Aegean and especially the Bronze Age Levant. There are a few other who also work with the Bronze Age, but it is definitely a more broad approach of the whole Mediterranean rather than Greece/Rome specific.
  14. Yay! I saw you had an interview. Congrats! Can I ask which program?
  15. Hi everyone! Just wondering who else in here is applying for archaeology? Anyone else apply to Brown and UPenn? Good luck to everyone! No matter what, be proud of yourself for making it this far! And lets hope we all become a cohort of incredible anthropologists!
  16. Salvete everyone! I just found this forum yesterday and I am so excited to know I am not alone in all this madness. I am not necessarily pure "Classics", but I am applying for a PhD in Ancient Mediterranean Archaeology (and most of my programs overlap with classical archaeology) If anyone applied to the Art and Archaeology of the Mediterranean World Program at UPenn, all interviews have been completed at this point (I was one of the lucky ones to get an interview). Other programs I applied to are: the Joukowsky Institute for Archaeology and the Ancient World at Brown, and Ancient Near Eastern Archaeology at Johns Hopkins. Would love to hear if there are any other archaeologists applying in this forum! Best of luck to everyone!!
