  1. Hi everyone, I'm claiming an acceptance to Cornell's Sociology Ph.D. program. I was notified via email by the Director of Graduate Studies. If I can help anyone with anything, feel free to pm
  2. From my recent professional experience as a researcher in prestigious institutions in EU, I'd suggest you choose the program based on: - Faculty fit - Presence of other students interested in your topics - How comfortable/happy you think you'd be if you were to live wherever they are located I don't think a 9 rank difference will change things much, but having a supportive work environment where you don't feel alone and living a place that offers you exciting activities outside of work surely will. Ultimately, how much you get paid also matters, so I'd look at stipends/living costs thoroughly. Just my two cents
  3. You're not alone. I'm waiting to hear from Cornell and Princeton, which usually release their admissions late feb...
  4. I was talking about University of Texas at Austin, which I guess has not sent all their acceptances yet.
  5. Oh, sorry. I'm an international applicant and got confused with the abbreviations–thanks for the clarification. I assumed programs sent all their acceptances within the same day, I guess this isn't the case.
  6. Hi, I'm a bit confused with UT's situation. I see some of you are eagerly waiting for the department's decisions, just like me, but didn't they send their acceptances on Jan 27th? I saw four different people reporting their acceptances. I lost hope after I saw them, but reading your comments makes me think that either more people will be accepted or that those reports weren't correct. Edit: spelling
