I’m at a T20. Application numbers went down this year.

Did anyone apply to demgraphy programs/have you heard back?

May I ask which schools?

I heard this cycle will have fewer applicants. At a top 15 program right now.

I was fortunate enough to get accepted to both programs, and I was wondering which school would be best for my research interests. Im interested in studying immigration, computational sociology, and quantitative methods.

Does anyone have information on NYU? They said decisions would be released by the end of the month?

Any word from NYU or Duke?

Has anyone who got into Cornell received their funding package?

I think there could be a case to be made to go to Cornell over UNC, if you look at these rankings these 2020: http://www.shanghairanking.com/Shanghairanking-Subject-Rankings/sociology.html (these rankings have also been featured in blogs by Sociologists at Indiana University https://orgtheory.wordpress.com/2019/07/15/new-sociology-rankings-and-its-kind-of-interesting/). Cornell was ranked 6th over UNC.

Does anyone have opinion on which is the better program? I see Cornell has better placements than Michigan in recent years, but Michigan consistently ranks higher.

If we haven’t received any news from Michigan, is it reasonable to assume a rejection?

Same! I just checked and I got reffeered to MACSS too. The price tag seems too high...
