  1. Waitlisted at UMD. (top of the waitlist). I really hope I get in here because I really love the faculty there. ????
  2. Yayy...congrats ? Yes, that early date is kinda frustrating. Are you waiting for some other programs?
  3. I just got accepted into Masters in English and Film studies at University of Alberta with their top funding. So yayyy. I thought all was lost but then this miracle happened. Honestly, I still can't believe it and I still feel that they sent me this email by an accident and they will realise this soon and I would be informed of this and be heartbroken again. ? They said that the Official letter would come later, probably before March 25. I have to confirm my enrollment before March 25. My question : I have also been waitlisted at indiana and am awaiting admission decisions for U penn and University of maryland. Should I expect these phd programs to make all their decisions before March 20? I would, to be honest, even like them sending me prompt rejections so I could mentally prepare myself for U of Alberta. ? ?
  4. When I emailed them, they said that their waitlist was not ranked per se, and it all depends upon how many accepted students from our particular research field (eg: my research focus is gender studies and postcolonial) decline the offers. I should probably ask them how many students are there in line for gender studies focus. Also, I applied for the Literature and Culture track (integrated MA PhD) . There is also a Rhetoric track. Which did you apply for and what's your research focus?
  5. Hello everyone! Hope you all are well. I'm currently only waitlisted at Indiana University Bloomington (and my research interests are postcolonial studies and gender/sexuality studies). I was informed by the DGS of IUB English Dept that it is generally difficult to fund someone with only a BA (as compared to someone with a BA and MA) but he also said that there was still hope. I don't know how hopeful i should get. But Indiana is my top choice and I really wanna study there. If anyone has been accepted into IUB and has the same research focus (gender studies) and has a lucrative fully funded offer from somewhere else, I would be very grateful if you could inform them of your decision. (These really sound like too many ifs...haha...Waitlist is painful too) 1 W/ 5 R/ 2 P
  6. Same, I also wanna know about this. I just wanna give up all the hope and expect a rejection but my hope is sadly still strong because there is still a very minute chance for a waitlist. Also, I wanna know about University of Maryland. I saw one reject on the result board (1st Feb) and a few interviews and waitlists (first week of Feb) but no acceptances. That's super weird, isn't it? Does anyone know more about this? I emailed the department on the 10th and they said that the application process is still not complete and it would take a few weeks. I'm getting somewhat impatient. haha
  7. Heyy, long time lurker here. I applied to the combined PhD program in Gender Studies and English at Yale. And seeing the rejections for Yale English PhD has scared me a bit, because I am not even close to the credentials that those rejected from Yale have. However, I was wondering, when would the combined Phd (Gender plus English) send their decisions, and how does it work (Do both departments have to accept us?). The combined phD would, I guess, be a bit more (or a lot more) competitive than a single subject Phd. I also applied to Brown, and I am trying to prepare myself for a rejection from Brown. Area: Trans/Queer studies plus postcolonial/Decolonial studies.
