I have no real news, just an update to say that one of my professors where i'm doing my MA is a recent Chicago alum and has offered to ring up the dept and see if she can get some insider info for me/us. I'll update if/when i know more.

So, reading John Burton this evening/night/morning has not done much/anything to allay my fears for the coming year should i find myself rejected (and the whole point of this thread is that misery loves company, right? 'cos if it isn't, you probably don't want to read the following). I just saw an MA rejection up on the results board; i'm surprised because i was under the impression that PhD decisions generally go out first. But do you think this means we may be hearing this week?! Also, commiserations to whoever posted it.

ETS may not have sent the scores yet--there can be a delay. If you go onto the GRE website onto My GRE/My Account>View Scores Online it will say the date that ETS sent the scores to the school. If it's been more than ten days or so since then, ring the school up and tell them when ETS says they sent it--and ask them what they'd like you to do in the interim between ETS resending your scores (which they'll do for free) and the school receiving them. Perhaps a scanned copy of your results letter?

You might be able to find some data on the schools you've applied to by looking at past decisions on the results board. If School Y has in previous years notified PhD applicants 2 weeks before MA applicants, i'd expect a c. 2 week delay. Bear in mind also that most decisions seem, from last yr's dates, to be running late--perhaps due to bad weather and the fact that the MLA convention was in Jan this year (it's usually in Dec).
