Has anyone gotten off the waitlist for the 2 year MSW at Carleton?

Got my rejection email from WLU this morning around 10:15. Not disappointed and honestly not surprised. I still have a shot at Carleton since I'm on the waitlist there, but if I don't get in, I've made the decision to reapply for fall 2024, and also apply to uCalgary and Dalhousie :D I'm now trying to decide if I should apply to complete a mental health/addictions certificate or a SSW diploma, or take the year off and add to my almost 5K hours of social service experience. Congrats to those who got accepted to the part-time MSW (non BSW) program at WLU, and I'm sorry to those who didn't :( Onwards and upwards, folks!

Has there been any movement on the Carleton waitlist?

As mentioned in previous forum posts, the target for admissions decisions is now the beginning of June. I will post a screenshot of the email I received when I inquired about it haha.

Nope! The website says the target for admissions decisions is the end of May, so I’m not really expecting to hear anything back any time soon at this point 🥲

No update; I was able to see mine again the next day so it must’ve been a glitch in the system or something.

I just checked mine and nothing showed up for me either! I know the website said the target for when decisions will be out is the end of May (after it was updated), but hopefully this is a good sign? 👀

you still have a shot at getting in which is good! Even though you did not get accepted immediately, being waitlisted tells you that your application is strong in the eyes of the admission committee! 😌

Based on what my waitlist email said, they need to have more than 10 rejections for there to be any movement on the waitlist (🥴), but I’m glad to know at least one person has rejected their offer lol. You got accepted somewhere else I presume?

Depends which program you applied to. Applicants to the online regular track MSW will start hearing back in May according to their website 👀

Hey y’all! My application status for the 2 year MSW at Carleton changed to ‘review in progress by department’ on Friday and I just got word a little bit ago that I’ve been placed on the waitlist. They’ve claimed to have sent out offers to more than their intended target of 25 students and there needs to be more than 10 declined offers to see any movement on the waitlist… so if you intend on declining your offer or declining your waitlist position to/at Carleton, please do so 😂

Congratulations on your likely acceptance to uVic! I considered applying there, but maybe next year if I don’t get in anywhere this year haha. 😅 Sorry about the rejection to Carleton, though. Had your application status changed before you got your rejection? 👀

You’re welcome! My application status still says ‘recommended for assessment’ and I’ve honestly taken it as a sign that I’ll be waitlisted or rejected. I’m also waiting to hear back from WLU; but at this point whatever happens, happens! I’ve got a couple backup plans just in case I appreciate your well wishes 💕

The fact that it hasn’t moved is what’s tripping me up! Especially cause in the mass email they said applications have all been reviewed and assessed. Sucks that we have to wait it out for longer 🥲

I applied for the 2 year! But I’ve still got Wilfrid Laurier to hear back from if I don’t get accepted to Carleton and then I’m gonna apply for a couple BSW program as well just in case! Though in the 2 year application at Carleton they ask if you want to be considered for the BSW if you don’t get accepted to the MSW and I said yes… so we’ll see what happens there lol
