I had a zoom call with UF a few months ago to get more info about their program. The professor I met with was very lovely. And while it wasn’t an interview, the vibe of my meeting was very casual and I felt v comfortable.

Do you have a specific contact you can email? Since you’ve already purchased your flights, I would try to get in touch w someone to sort it out.
-
I hope you get another offer at a program w faculty that you want to work with!
-
Congrats! I remember you mentioned your interview was an interesting experience. I’m glad to hear you were accepted. Would you be working closely with the faculty who interviewed you?

Thank you! It was a tough decision to turn everything down last year, but in the end it was the right decision because I really want to find a program that is a good fit for what I’m looking for. My Maryland interview went really well. I should know by the end of next week! 🤞🤞🤞

I am so excited for you with the UCSB interview. I know you have gone through the application process a few times so I’m stoked that you have some great options! I have a v good feeling about ucsb 🤞keep us posted x

What a strange marketing technique lol. I remember you had a really good interview with one of the California schools. Have you heard anything more?
-
Woohoo! Congratulations!

I just got an interview request for the University of Maryland!
-
which department did you apply to? The Maryland app was just studio arts so it didn’t specify a department for me. Lmk if you hear anything! Good luck!

Delaware gave me a wonderful offer and I came close to accepting, but at the time they were in the middle of sorting some things out with their program (whether it would be 2 or 3 years and a few other things) and I decided to wait until things were sorted and the dust settled. And with Kent, I would have been an instructor of record from day 1 and I am looking for a program where I can TA for the first semester or so while I get acclimated. Both are great programs with good offers just not what I was looking for.

Hi all, did anyone else apply to the university of Maryland? I know many of you are underway in the interview process already. Last year I was interviewed (sculpture) by Tulane, Kent state, and the university of Delaware. I’d be happy to give anyone info/feedback about my interviews at those schools last year. I was accepted to Kent and Delaware but ultimately chose to decline both and reapply to other schools this year. congrats to everyone and good luck! x

Isn't it quite early to be having interviews and getting accepted? I feel like most deadlines aren't for another month or so... When was the UMass deadline?
-
Yeah, it is very competitive. I applied in the same way I buy a lottery ticket. Not expecting to win or get in, but hoping. Have you decided on a grad program?
-
Yeah, I applied this year. Did you apply as well?

For people accepted into funded programs (and if you feel comfortable sharing) how much money are you getting in stipends? And what sort of time requirement is tied to the stipend? I've gotten two offers, both funded. The first offer comes with a $16,000 stipend per year - I would be teaching my own undergrad course beginning in September. Teaching right off the bat makes me nervous because I've never taught before. The second offer is $12,000 per semester, but I wouldn't get a stipend (or have an assistantship) until the second semester. So my first year stipend would be $12,000 and my second year I would get the full $24,000. I just want to see how these offers align with offers other applicants are getting. I hope everyone is doing well and hanging in there x

Congrats!!! I am so happy for you - I know you were feeling disappointed about your other rejections so it is awesome you got VCU!!! Hell yeah!

I just got my expected rejection from Cornell. I have other offers that seem to fit better with my personality so I'm not bummed. Also, it had been silence for months so I knew it was coming.
-
congrats!!! Do you mind sharing about any funding they offered you?
-
wow! you have some amazing offers! I would love to see some of your work
-
Omg I'm so glad you followed up with the dean and can now take your time without worrying about the funding getting pulled. Yay!

In one of my acceptance letters, a faculty member attached this PDF - it shows all the schools that give incoming grad students until April 15th to make their decisions. I know some schools are pressuring me and others to make a decision, but if your school is listed on this PDF, then you have until April 15th. FYI. I hope everyone is hanging in there x https://cgsnet.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/CGS_April15_Resolution_Mar62023.pdf

I'm 38 too! And I also graduated from undergrad last year! Look at us go!!!!! :)))))))) Good luck with your MFA! I applied to a handful of programs was was accepted to two, both with generous scholarships

Awesome!!!! Congrats!

I feel like I'm in the opposite boat as you - I only applied to institutions that offered full tuition and gave a stipend, and these programs so fricken competitive. I've been offered a couple admissions (with tuition remission and stipends) and I'm trying to figure out if I will be able to swing it - even with the stipends I will still have to go into some debt to be able to afford living expenses.
