  1. Did I hear you right? They said your decision has not been made after numerous e-mails saying they will get back to all of us by March 22nd or is it the 27th. Harris admissions is really turning into a joke. So sorry you are still waiting I hope they are not planning on getting back to you a day before the Admitted Students day. Good luck!
  2. I agree with StellaHaiti2, there is more to getting into a prestigious graduate program. Your GREs scores are fine in my opinion and I scored lower in all parts of the GRE compared to your scores. Focus your energy on our SOP, recommendations, resume and other items for your applications. Don't let those who personally want the 97th percentile confuse you with their BS. Good luck!
  3. So sorry that you folks are still waiting. This is ridiculous. Perhaps you should call the school directly. I got an admit but I turned down the offer like a bad habit when it took forever to hear from Harris. This is just not the way to do things. How can you expect students to make a decision about coming for the Admitted Students day when they have less than a week to hear about a damn decision. I sent an e-mail to the Dean of Graduate Studies at Chicago last week, expressing my displeasure. Waiting to hear back from him...good luck and I hope the wait is not for too long. It just sucks!
  4. My guess is NYC is more expensive but I could be wrong. However, if HKS is your top choice, it is up to you to decide if you are okay forfeiting whatever deposit money you pay to any school. Putting down a deposit does not mean you have to attend the school. It is just a way of securing your spot in the academic program. If you then decide not to attend, it is not an issue - the only problem is, you will not get your deposit money back from the school. So, you can pay your deposit money at any school, but you don't compulsorily have to attend that school. You only lose your deposit money Hope this makes sense. My questions is: when is HKS going to let you know once you are off the waitlist? If it is past the April 15th deadline to respond to Harris or the May 2nd deadline to respond to SIPA (you can tell, I got into both schools since I know the deadlines...although I declined both for a better offer) , then I will be on the safe side and make a deposit to one of these schools just to guarantee you a spot in one program instead of not paying anything and losing out totally on all the schools if HKS eventually gives you a DING...so weigh your options very well and plan
  5. Thanks SkyDiver, yes I heard the same as well about the program. Hopefully, I come out alive after the two years over there . Well, we have math camp before classes start...that will help me decide where I need to be before classes start in the Fall. Unfortunately, HKS did not show me any love I was given the denied verdict for the MPP program. I would not have been able to attend anyways if I did not get any funding!
  6. Didn't Delco suggest that applicants should e-mail her if they don't hear back by on Friday (yesterday) by 7pm Chicago time? Send her an e-mail.
  7. Yes it is an excellent program. I wanted to study the Econ and public policy concentration of their program and funding was great too (full scholarship plus 22k living expenses per year). I hope you get some news from Harris or taken off the waitlist at Harvard
  8. Hey SkyDiver, I am going to Princeton (just couldn't resist the generous offer). I hope you hear back from Harris soon/have backup plans. Good luck!
  9. I just declined my offer to Harris. I hope you have all received your admission decisions. Good luck to those who are planning on going to Harris in the fall and I hope those who got rejected have other plans in place with other graduate programs. For those on the waitlist, I hope you get off soon
  10. If it helps, mine starts with an A. Good luck!
  11. Are you taking the offer enofotan? I am just curious after this wait if a lot of folks without funding will still attend.
  12. Yes a couple of mins ago....u haven't heard anything from them. It is an e-mail with another PDF attachment saying you got it or not....
  13. There is a forum called "Harris Decision" we are all over there waiting for Chicago to respond.
  14. Finally....I am in with no funding Maybe they saw my post on this forum. Lol. I already turned down the offer. Good luck to those still waiting and I hope those who have Chicago as their top choice got funding! Pheeeww.. and this concludes my MPP/MPA application process! That took a while
  15. I just got back from finishing some rounds of beer. If is a little after 11pm here in Africa. I must say that I am really disappointed with this attitude from Harris. I really think we should mention this level of incompetence to the Board of Directors at Harris oh well goodnight my people.
  16. HHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHERE IS OUR ADMIT/WAITLIST/REJECT LETTERS.....WE ARE WAITING INPATIENTLY. THIS WAITING IS KILLING ME AND MY KIDS CAN'T GET ANYTHING TO EAT BECAUSE I AM TOO FOCUSED UPDATING THIS FORUM...just kidding I don't have any kids but it is already 5pm here in Africa...phewwww. Maybe I should go out and have a drink with my buddies.
  17. I think the question should be how many e-mails sent out by Harris do they really act on annually . Let us get the letters of admit/waitlist/reject and then start the process of worrying about full fellowships...lol....just sayin...not trying to be mean maitreli
  18. SkyDiver, unfortunately I have to agree with you on this one...something tells me she will come back with some e-mail saying we are still sending out the letters in no particular order...lol....then we have to wait until the end of the month to get results...it sucks!
  19. I guess now I know why it is taking so long to hear back from Chicago..on my online application, my file was last updated on the 19th of March as complete...this is crazy even though I submitted by app on New Years day.! How in the world were they hoping to get back to me by March 15th or the 22nd. I guess at this point, I should not even hold my breath that they would get back to me by tomorrow.
  20. Yes s33, can you please reinforce it and tell these folks to quit the speculations. It doesn't help at all and it makes things more confusing. I am an international as well and I find it quite annoying when people keep referring to some results page that international students already received their decision when they have not!
  21. Tell me about it..it is frustrating to say the least. I am an international student too. How can an admissions program be run this way? I hope this is not a reflection of the overall program They said we will hear by March 15th, nothing....then between March 18th-22nd, still nothing...sucks sucks sucks......
  22. I just turned down my offer due to no financial aid. Hopefully they will take you off the waitlist, bluenine. Good luck!
  23. Not too sure why I am anxious since I have already decided on where I am going this fall. I guess it is always good to know the outcome of my application. Also I am not too sure about this idea that they got back to top tier students already. Unless I missed an earlier e-mail, they were planning on getting back to everybody by Mid March so where in the world are people getting ideas that waitlists and rejects are the only folks left in the admission process. Oh well, good luck to those waiting and I hope you all get into your choices of masters programs!
  24. I guess a lot of folks haven't decided.
  25. Okay Harris needs to get back to us....it is almost COB in the US and I am about to prepare my bed to sleep over here in Africa..it is already past 10pm...arrggghhhhhhhhhhh
