  1. You might want to try the K-Bit 2 (Kaufman Brief Intelligence Test). They have a visuospatial compenent.
  2. Central Michigan sent out application statuses today. Unfortunately, I was rejected.
  3. Don't worry. I'm in the same boat. There's something comforting about not being the only one who isn't comforted.
  4. Glad to have found this section. I've applied to (not ranked): 1. Texas A&M 2. Central Michigan 3. Oklahoma 4. University of Houston 5. Louisiana Tech 6. University of Tulsa Basic Stats: 153 Q, 153 V 4.0 Grad GPA 3.8 Psych GPA 1 publication (Computers in Human Behavior) 4 poster presentations research assistantship for 2 years teaching experience as an adjunct (intro, stats)
  5. Haven't been able to find any information on how schools calculate GPAs. More specifically, how they calculate cumulative GPAs when an applicant has a graduate degree. For example, my undergrad GPA is very poor (2.775, Bio major, Psych minor from Big State U), but I made up for it with during grad school (4.00, Psych from Local Small U). I know for most, if not all, universities my undergrad GPA would immediately eliminate me from moving past the initial cuts. Would they look strictly at my Psych GPA? How about my upper-level undergrad years (which would effectively eliminate most of my poor freshmen and sophomore year grades)? Thanks in advance for any help!
  6. Thank you very much for the feedback MsDarjeeling! Much appreciated!
  7. Hope everyone is having a great Memorial Day. I've begun the PhD application process and I haven't seen a lot of information on how programs take into account GPAs for undergrad and grad programs. My undergrad GPA is 2.7 (Biology). My minor GPA (Psychology) was 3.3. I got accepted into a local university in Psychology and was able to keep my GPA where it needed to be: 4.0. Additionally, I was able to publish my thesis (1st author), make multiple conference presentations, and had leadership positions with multiple organizations. After graduating, I was offered an adjunct position and have taught many courses (Intro, Basic Stats, Human Sexuality, Psychometrics). I began working at this same university full-time and have gained valuable experience in assessments and grant-writing. I'm shooting for a 320 GRE. Does anyone know how PhD programs use this information? I know that most programs use an algorithm to weed out applicants initially so I was wondering if my application would make the first cut? Any anecdotal evidence would be great too. Thanks!
  8. Hey guys, If you don't mind me asking, was this for a Fulbright ETA or for a regular Fulbright? What country did you both apply to? I haven't bothered with looking for e-mails since the majority of those online have said that the notifications don't come until January, but it seems they've already been responding? Congratulations and I'm sorry Spelmanite. With you both the best in your futures.
  9. Hi! First post. I finished submitting my application for an ETA in Ecuador about a week ago. I have a weak undergrad GPA, but am hoping that my graduate grades (4.0 with only 2 courses remaining) will help buffer that out. Aside from the personal statement and grant purpose, I don't see any other criteria that is weighted so heavily. Any ideas on how low too low is? Any other graduates applying for ETAs?
