  1. Anyone have info on Dalhousie’s timeline and when to expect an email of any kind?
  2. i’m hopeful it’ll be slightly lower than last years average (3.88) but there are 514 applicants this year and the last time it was that high (2021; 533) the average for an interview was a 3.9. Last year someone got an interview and offer with a 3.85 so i think if you’re in the 3.84+ range you’re safe!
  3. they’re out! go to document tracking when you log in and scroll down . Who’s starting the MMI discord?
  4. based on last year, orpas subgpas should be out on monday/tuesday!
  5. depends on the school and course! sometimes they’re online and sometimes they’re in person
  6. didn’t apply to UBC but what school are you at? I think your best bet is to get a LOP and take an approved course at another university. This is also a weird requirement because for example at McMaster, the phonetics course counts for speech science but UBC says a course can only be used to meet one pre-requisite and phonetics is one lmao😭😭. But yea i think you should look into a LOP at Brock probably (they have a speech science concentration so they’ll have more courses that count). I think a specific anatomy course focused on speech hearing and/or swallowing that also covers measurements etc should count so if you have a course like that email them to confirm
  7. T This is a good idea! Should we wait for offers or maybe when subgpas are out? Since by then ppl will know if they have a chance
  8. Hi! Just looking to connect with other people who applied to the eHealth program! I'm not sure what the typical timeline is so hoping we can support and help each other through the next processes!
  9. was on mac's website today and there were 514 applicants this year 😭..... they havent released the expected number of seats available but its usually 32. they actually over accepted last year(37). I hope that can happen again this year low-key.... otherwise chances are so slim esp since they're the only one with an interview. how is everyone feeling overall? I'm not sure what to do now except wait. I think my subgpa should be okay for an interview offer but we won't find out until end of Februrary (from thr website). Just wanted to get these thoughts out 😭.... Also are there any related backup programs you guys are applying for? I only applied for 3 slp and a eHealth program + am considering doing CDA too (since western said they'll accept 1 prof reference from there too), pls let me know!
  10. For those applying to Dal, what was your email subject and what did you include in the body of the email? I'm thinking for subject: SCSD Submission: B00#-SLP and nothing for the body but just want to confirm! @BrocasArea @tayslp @MarySLP
  11. I submitted my application on Nov 29 and received my B00 on Dec 5. Maybe it's because of the winter break?
  12. Just submitted my ORPAS application a few minutes ago. I still have my Dalhousie app documents and my backup Masters to go😭 I’m already really anxious even though we wont receive any information for a while (just Mac interview invites in February…). Anyways I wanted to say goodluck to everyone! We’ve made it this far our work won’t be in vain! Take care everyone!!
  13. yes you only need to do the first section since they have waived the volunteering requirement for this year
  14. yea for sure! first mention it like "i'm drawn to the profession of speech-language pathology (SLP) because..." then every instance after that use SLP
  15. For those applying to dal, on your resume how did you include the information on frequency for volunteer activities? The website says the following: "Please include your education, work experience, research experience (including publications and presentations), volunteer experience (including the organization, activities, duration and frequency), and special qualifications (including languages spoken, post-secondary training received outside of university, etc.)."
  16. you can send a message via the SAM section when you log in! you can also email orpas@ouac.on.ca
  17. technically yes but I would be weary for it for school's that waived the required clinical hours but still require a professional reference (like Western- they said they're not required, shouldnt be sought out and wont be considered iirc). if youve worked at the clinic in more than just a volunteer capacity (observing, small tasks) or you've been paid then yes they would be a professional reference. If youve just observed and even helped in sessions then they can only speak to your future as an SLP(hence why it would be a clinical reference) but professional references are more than that from what i understand. best response will probably come from emailing respective schools to ask hope this helps edit: just saw someone say they emailed Western and its fine so u can ignore me😅
  18. Hi I'm not to sure where you're looking but when you're inputting pre-requites that are in progress (including winter term) you just need to put in IPR. If granted admission to a school with a pre-req in progress you'll receive a conditional offer. For offer acceptances to be finalized, final transcripts will be sent to the schools and so they will see your final winter marks. Fall is only needed since the subgpa calculation starts from fall 2023 and backwards (if youre in your last year of undergrad rn) Idk if i explained this well enough sorry. Im a first time applicant and just going off knowledge from helping my friend apply last year.
  19. Does anyone know how many seats are available for the Dal program? And also how the minor in audiology works if you're in SLP?
  20. asking for a friend, does anyone know if a phd candidate can be a reference? my friend worked directly under one as a volunteer in a lab and is more comfortable asking them rather than the lab director.

  22. When I was logged in last night it had it but I just checked and its gone so I guess its also waived! But we definitely should still be talking about things we did in the SOI
  23. It is required. You'll see it on ORPAS if you go to personal submissions!
  24. Is anyone applying to Westerns combined PhD and SLP program? or the PhD and Audiology one?
  25. Has anyone heard of or knows anyone who received an offer from UofT without having a minimum B+ in a pre req?
