Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone had any experiences with applying to and going to complete their masters abroad, somewhere in Europe or even the states? I am Canadian, completed my undergrad honours psych Bsc from UofA in 2021, and have worked a lot in the mental health field since then, both in nonprofit settings and within schools. I feel like I want a big change, I really enjoy travelling, and have recently started thinking about pursuing my masters abroad. I’m interested in clinical psychology (neuropsychology specialization) but also open to exploring the research and academia route as well. for anyone who might have insight into this:
1. what universities in Europe and the USA have well known psychology programs, and have a focus on international student presence?
2. Expenses - I know the states and the UK are going to be really expensive. Are there lots of opportunities for grants and scholarships for international students?
3. How hard is it to transfer these credentials when I’m back in Canada? I know I’ll have to do licensing and whatnot if I were to take the clinical psych route. I guess my question is is it worth it to study abroad, or is it going to create a ton of extra work when I get home?
I’ve been trying to do a ton of research on this but I haven’t really found much. I’d love to hear from someone who’s had first hand experience with pursuing a masters abroad. Any additional info would be helpful too as I’m in the very early stages of considering/researching
thank you so much!
