  1. I think objectively all but Ithaca NY are tremendous places to live. Weather is honestly probably best in Durham. Also, while you're living in a "small college town", Durham is apart of the broader Research Triangle that will provide plentiful opportunities to stay entertained (the other 2 being Chapel Hill and Raleigh). Ann Arbor is consistently ranked as one of the best places to live in the US. That department has tremendous variety in research being conducted if you want to keep your options open. If you're dead set on Bayesian Statistics, there's no better place to go than Duke. Seems like you have more research to do on the cities and programs though. All are strong enough that they will never inhibit industry placements. Cornell may arguably be the best bet if you are dead set on industry if you care about prestige (likely that the Ivy League label will carry more weight than individual strength of department to those not in the loop on Stat department strength).
  2. Hello, I have read that some PhD programs in Statistics require interviews. What kind of breadth is covered in these interviews? I am quiet nervous as it has been about 2.5 years since I've taken any upper division math. While I did get good grades, I unfortunately don't use any of the material in my day to day job so unfortunately remember very little of the content of my analysis, linear algebra, math stats classes. Even calc III, I wouldn't feel confident being drilled on questions in an interview the material. My question is as follows: what would one recommend to review leading up to these interviews? Would it be fair to say that one should master all the content on their CV and SOP before moving to revising math? Very nervous/anxious about the prospect of these interviews overall so would appreciate any insight! Thanks so much
  3. @bayessays thank you so much for the reply! Saving me both financial and mental stress by not needing to retake. At this point its the last thing I have control over in my application so I figured if there was a meaningful difference between 167 and say 169/170 with regards to admission decisions, then I should study to get it. Glad that doesn't appear to be the case.
  4. Hello, What is the minimum quant GRE score needed to send for Statistics PhD and MS programs? I've heard 165 is the cutoff, 167 or 168 from others? What would be the minimum score one would need to be competitive for all programs? I got a 167 today and have a few weeks to retake if needed. Really weighing if its worth the extra $200 or not.
