  1. Hello fine grads! For anyone who knows they'll be attending UNLV for any program next year, I wanted to post early regarding a really great housing opportunity. I'll be abroad next summer and fall, and my 1 bedroom + office + cats will be available starting June 1 and going at least through Nov 30, possibly Dec 31. Features are: ~$1166/month (+ utilities around $75/mo, not including internet) Fully furnished <10 minute walk from UNLV 2 adorable indoor cats (we'd have you stocked fully with food and litter) Office has French doors and can easily double as a second bedroom Very reliable AC (in Vegas this is a must) Fast maintenance crews (either same-day or next day for every single fix) Lots of other friendly UNLV grad students in the complex Respectful neighbors An insane number of books for you to peruse Please reach out if you or a grad student you know would be interested in subletting next year!
  2. This has probably been asked before but is it safe to say that if I haven't heard yes or no from Iowa so far that it's a rejection?
  3. I have friends who went there for undergrad and said the faculty are SO amazing. Congratulations!!
  4. Has anyone heard any updates at all regarding the Iowa waitlists??
  5. If there’s a chance that funding from another school could change your decision, then you have every right to take as much time as you need. This is an enormous life choice and you need to do what is best for yourself! edit: aren’t the other schools you listed all fully funded anyways?
  6. UNLV….where art thou… 😞😞😞😞 Jealous (happy jealous!) of anyone who gets to go to Boise or Montana, those landscapes look so conducive to writing cool stuff!!
  7. Anyone know anything about Nevada Las Vegas? The waiting hurts
  8. Bernie is once again asking for Arizona to do its thing
  9. just smiled very broadly - congratulations!!!!
  10. Depression sure does amplify the worthlessness feeling of rejections. Anyone else dealing with that? And on a related issue - anyone else applying for the first time as an "older" applicant? I'm early 30s, and while I'm totally glad I did not apply when I first wanted to (10 years ago; my writing wasn't ready and I've had a lovely non writing career since then), I can't help but feel like my current tally of 0a/1w/6r is going to lead to a do-over. Is it worth it to try again as a mid-30s applicant?
  11. That’s wild, since there aren’t any poetry acceptances listed on Draft or grad cafe
  12. Bernie meme: i am once again asking for news from Minnesota, UNLV, Virginia, Arizona….
  13. I’m in a similar situation (first time applying, all rejections with one waitlist so far), and it’s v hard not to just write it all off, but it helps me to remember that when 700 people apply for 12 spots, that doesn’t imply a pool of 688 bad writers in addition to those 12 awesome ones. Plus every year it looks like many people get into one great school and get a rejection from another equally great school.
  14. Any word on when Minnesota poetry decisions might happen?
  15. ah well, the nightmare continues
