Also applying to Ole Miss and Arkansas, and I think this is the case too. If you get into round 2 for those, it's a very good sign! I'm so anxious to hear back about round 2! If I make it that far, I know that's the first news I'll get any day now.
Not a backup plan in the career sense, but if I don’t get in this cycle, I’m going to REALLY throw myself into getting in the best shape of my life. My last year has been consumed with MFA apps, finishing undergrad, and researching programs, so my diet hasn’t been the best... I want to get back into cooking more at home, get back into therapy and have an exercise routine. Edit: I was going to do all this stuff anyway mfa or not lol. But if I don’t get in this year, at least I won’t have the added stress of grad school!
It’s also my first year applying, so I feel you.
Hey, fellow NYC schools applicant here! I used to live in the city and I’ve been dying to move back!
I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to cite musical influences as well songwriting is still writing, and it can help further articulate your aesthetics. I read an sop from someone in Draft Workshop Facebook group who referenced music. They got into Virginia, so I say go for it.
Hi, all! I thought I'd help keep this thread going too after reading last year's thread! This will be my first year applying after contemplating for years (I've been a Draft lurker since 2016). Applied to Arkansas, Ole Miss, Minnesota State, BU, New School, Columbia, Hunter, and UNCG for fiction. And the usual suspects: Iowa, Michigan, UW-M, NYU. Very excited for results to come out! Best of luck to everyone!
