  1. After paying the fee and getting all the recommendation letters in and you still have not received a confirmation email and it doesn't say submitted on the website, I'd call them first thing in the morning tomorrow. They already did most of the interviews, so you should shoot your shot whether it was reviewed or not.
  2. Yay! I'm excited that we all got it I'll keep you guys posted what day it'll be and such. Congrats to all of us!
  3. I didn’t apply for that program but all the other programs I’ve submitted my applications to have sent me a confirmation email that my application has been submitted. Did you pay the application fee and received the submission email?
  4. Thank you so much for the reply! Yeah MSU is my top choice hopefully we hear back soon. I appreciate it! Best of luck for your upcoming interviews!
  5. Hey friend! Congrats You really are getting invitations from all of them! That’s awesome! I wanted to ask if you’ve ever heard back from MSU even for rejection? I haven’t heard back and came to consensus with myself that it’s a no, but I haven’t seen anyone hearing back even for rejection I wanted to ask if you heard back yet.
  6. Thank you! It looks like you are getting interviews from many places yay!! I wish you only the best of luck! Keep me posted
  7. UW-Madison SLA program director emailed me to let me know that I am among the few finalists and they are trying to find multi year funding to support my studies, which might not be possible if there is not enough as this will TA stipend. It depends on how many undergraduate students register and whether other departments have PhD students coming in. The email was basically giving me an idea where they’re standing at this time, which was such a relief to know during this radio silence period, even though it might not lead to the final admission. She did mention that the steering committee met last week and have chosen finalists, so whoever is on that list should have been contacted by now. That’s all the update I have for now. Best of luck to everyone during this scary and stressful time.
  8. Right, but at the same time not updating it to that point is a little absurd for a proper institution with well-known faculty members. I personally think it shows a lot about the program. MSU, for instance, has every single detail about the admission on their website as well as departmental news. PSU has very clear guidelines outlined for applications. I wouldn't say all programs have it all perfect, but NAU is definitely the worst of all I've seen. If this doesn't bother you, good for you. For me, it says a lot about the program.
  9. Okay that's at least good to know that you have talked to some of the faculty members and confirmed. I did email the department, but I have not heard back yet. All I can say is that NAU website, especially Applied Linguistics, literally SUCKS. They are absolutely the worst out of all the programs I've looked at. Admission information is neither updated nor aligned. Such a horrible website.
  10. Are you guys both domestic? I am just realizing international students need to send the official transcript to the school on ground mail (I can scan official transcripts easily but the official website says ground mail only and I wanted to see if that's why everyone does). It costs money and takes weeks, so I wanted to make sure it's 100% only ground mail for international applicants.
  11. Hiya! I have no update but I wanted to ask if you have submitted official or unofficial transcripts for NAU. I am just reviewing the details of the admission to finalize my application, and it sounds like I am required to submit official transcript, which sounds a little absurd to me before admitted. I also saw that application portal says GRE is option for this program. I am so confused. I was wondering if you have submitted (1) official transcript (2) GRE score!
  12. If you have already talked to Dr. Isbell on zoom before submitting the application, he might have sent it straight to the committee for review. I did not contact my other PoI, so he had to schedule an informal meeting to learn about me before handing it off to the committee.
  13. Just what I was told during the interview is that faculty members are currently interviewing potential advisees. I'm sure each faculty does it at a different pace. Those lists get passed down to the committee where they do a larger review on a departmental level. So, whoever you put down as your PoI reviews your applications and schedule a meeting if they're interested. He did say if committee picks my application I will still need to have an official meeting again. He also mentioned that either way I should hear back in about a week or by the end of this month. In an informal interview with PoI at Hawaii, he asked about my background and research interests as well as my research direction for PhD. He asked in detail, asking many follow-up questions about exactly what directions I'd take, which didn't happen with other schools. It might also be because my research area is what he's most well-versed in. He knew what to ask. I hope this helps!
  14. honestly I'd wait another week or so to see if your PoI or committee contact. The email was very clear that this is an informal, prelim interview just to talk about my research interests. This is something you can get by contacting PoI before applications.
  15. I just got an email from Hawaii about a prelim interview offer from the other PoI. It's not official interview but informal one to talk about my research interests. I think even if this goes well I still need to have another official interview with the committee for Hawaii (I saw many in the past had prelim interviews with PoI but still got rejected) One thing for sure is that faculty members are currently reviewing the applications for shortlists I'd say!
  16. Yeah he's the one of two I've put and talked on Zoom back in November! I'll keep you posted if I hear back from Hawaii. Do you mind sharing MSU PoI? I've put Dr. De Felice but they did mention someone else during the interview so I'm guessing some of the core faculty are not accepting students
  17. That’s awesome that you’ve already got admission! Can I ask who your PoI for U of Hawaii is? I put two young male professors who work together often but only talked to one in language assessment which isn’t my main area at all
  18. I’ve gotten an interview offer last week and interviewed with PoI yesterday for SLA at University of Wisconsin-Madison
  19. Would you guys share your CV briefly as well? Like education, work experience, publication, presentation? I read through all the forums here and it’s always insightful to see what other people have. I hate when people ask and don’t share theirs first, so I’ll write mine first. If you feel uncomfortable, ofc you don’t have to share. My CV: International student. BA in English Language and Literature, MA in TESOL right now, EFL/ESL teaching experience, RA experience, GTA experience, two publications as a co-author (one in press and the other under review), two presentations (one random NAFSA conference and AAAL 2024 colloquial accepted and scheduled), one book proposal prep in southern epistemology with a bunch of scholars. That’s about it for me.
  20. I would say that you don’t have to worry about not hearing back just yet since most schools usually start their interview process mid January. I think MSU is always really early compared to any other programs. I also think it depends a lot on PoI, whether they do this process sooner than later. I hope you hear back from them soon!
