So cool! Congratulations!!! 🎉 🎊

Yep, they do, but depending on where in the world you are and how reliable the postal service is, you may or may not receive it. I did not receive mine last year, and had to email Deb West in May/June, who replied with a PDF version of the mailed letter. No idea why they couldn't just send that by email in the first place. In any case, the portal should be updated later this month, and it'll simply read: DENIED, or some such.

Congrats!!! I'm out of reactions so typing my own 💙 here.

Yeah, poetry and fiction acceptances have been reported. The next batch of notifications (maybe in a week or two) should be waitlists. Hi and welcome! No movement yet for Iowa poetry, but going by precedent from last year, they should begin notifying this week. Best of luck!

CONGRATS!!!!!! 🎉 🎉🎉 🎉 🎊🎊🎊🎊 When you get the funding details, make sure to respond to thank them and express strong interest in attending. Also mention that you would love to be considered for additional funding if it becomes available. Someone who got this initial offer (half tuition waiver) last year was later offered a dean's fellowship on April 3 (full tuition waiver + health insurance but without stipends); and then a few days later, their offer was bumped to the full package (tuition + health insurance + 34k annual stipend). From what I know, it helps to have other offers and let them know of it, but they usually have movement and things open up. Rooting for you all the way! Congrats!!! I think you stand a good chance to make it out of the waitlists or get a bumped-up offer from NYU. See my reply to exvat above. Fingers crossed for you!

Congrats! 🎉

OMGGG, Jane! I'm rooting so hard for you to make it in, CONGRATS!!!

GradCafe still won't let me add reactions, but WOWWWW!!! This is such a detailed and generous response. Full of insightful tips, I know it'll help more than a few people in the application seasons to come. THANK YOU!! ✨

I'm out of reactions, congrats!! 🎉Sending you all the good vibes to make it off the waitlist.

Congrats!! What a stellar run! What would you say made the difference in your applications this year as opposed to last year? Did you take a radically different approach? Sample? SOP? Recs? I'd love to know, if you don't mind sharing.

You have some pretty interesting alternative options there, can't imagine you'll go wrong with any of them. And yeah, this is a good attitude to have. I hope it'll be a rewarding year for you, whichever path you take. But also, the window may not be completely closed yet, bleak as it seems now. I don't think NYU called everyone on the same day last year; but even if they're done calling, there's still a chance you get in with the regular package. And if you happen to be high enough on their list, that offer may get bumped up later in the season when those with multiple fully-funded offers reject NYU's full funding. I can see on the Draft spreadsheet that the one person who's reported a poetry acceptance from NYU today was also accepted by Michigan and UW-Madison. Three fully-funded offers and they can only take one. So at least two lucky people will benefit from that.

Saaame! Many programs have been slower this year. Can't say exactly, but they have at least 10 fully-funded fellowships, so I imagine they give out about 5 or 6 per genre, maybe fewer for CNF. Yep NWP could happen by Friday or early next week. Someone on Draft contacted VT and reports that they'll notify after March 1 (so maybe next week, as well). Dunno about Knoxville, but probably within the next 2 weeks.

Not different. They call all those accepted with full funding (tuition remission + stipends). Some time later, emails are sent to those accepted with the standard package (50% tuition waiver).

CONGRATS TO YOU BOTH!!!!!!! 🎉 🎉 Not much news there. Mostly Oregon State waitlists and updates from South Carolina and a few other programs we've heard from before. I'm frankly amazed at how slow things have been this year. By this time last year, NYU had sent out the first batch of acceptances with fellowship funding. The next set (regular acceptances without fellowship or full tuition waiver) went out on 26/2. They haven't even started at all this year. And it's crickets from programs like WashU. I'm beginning to think there might be a serious issue with funding. But no way to know except to wait it out. Oh, well.

I'd say you're fine. I emailed the department and they confirmed the following: 1. Your unofficial transcript sent to the two email addresses, (gschool) with (mfaadm) in cc, is sufficient for now. When admitted, you can then arrange for official copies to be sent via physical mail. 2. I bet they received your email even though there was no acknowledgement. They didn't acknowledge mine either, even though we'd corresponded earlier when I sought clarification. I didn't have to send an English proficiency test result, but you could email the department (mfaadm) to confirm receipt of the ecopy from British Council. Perhaps also keep (gschool) in cc and attach a copy of your IELTS result to the email. I really don't think you have anything to be worried about.

I think JHU has sent all acceptances and waitlists, those yet to hear back are soft Rs, and the rejection notifications are delayed due to unrelated admin/logistics reasons. I believe more people will get their hard Rs this week or by the first week of March.

Hi, I know you mean well but I urge you to reconsider posting those links here. There's a reason no one else has posted them before. It's a private group and the moderators explicitly asked that the links not be shared elsewhere. People fill out their data there with the understanding that access to it is closed and confidential. And since every member has access to in-group conversations/interactions and can reach out to the moderators to correct or confirm something, there's more internal trust, which makes the results there several degrees more reliable than, for instance, GradCafe's results page. You'll also notice that a few people filled out the form with their legal names. It's not cool to post that on a public page without their consent. If the post you made here is approved, please consider editing the links out. And if you still want to privately share a link to someone who's not in the group, please only share the link to the view-only data, not the editable Google form. In that case, a DM would be better than a public post.

OMG CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! 🎉 🎉 🎉 🎉 🎉 🎉 🎉 🎉

CONGRATS @everything bagel lover!!! 🎉 And a belated Happy Birthday to @curfew! Wishing you all the awesome things.

I'm out of reactions, but yes! They're sweeping everything, love it for them! Great for those waitlisted at these programs; their chances are looking good.
-
Can't believe there's been nothing from WashU so far. They've never (per recent records) been this late with decisions. And to think that their deadline this time was a full 2 weeks earlier than usual. Wonder what's keeping them. But on the other hand, the week is long and much more WILL happen between now and Friday/the weekend. Buckle up, folks. Eyes on Michigan, Iowa, UNLV and more.
-
That's pretty rotten of them. And yeah, I've observed that many of these schools don't even use the preferred name they ask for. Their loss. As you said, the rejection is a blessing in disguise. Anyway, I just wanted to mention that I (and some others) love your username on the spreadsheet. Been rooting for "mr butt". 😃 Congratulations on JHU and wishing you the very best with it.

Ah, I see. I wasn't aware of this, but good to know (in case future applicants are reading; I hope I personally don't have to apply again 😉). Other MFA programs I know of that offer fee waivers to international applicants include Brown, Johns Hopkins, Cornell, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Vanderbilt, Wash U St Louis, UW-Madison, and University of Virginia. Some of these are automatic and general, some are limited and have additional conditions/steps.
-
Oh nice. Hoping you get better news from the remaining programs. How/when were you able to get BU to waive your fee? I asked in December and they said they couldn't. I guess I assumed it's just not something they do. @Nauna The fabled spreadsheet is housed in a Facebook group called MFA Draft '25. You'd have to join to access it.
