There's been so many weird ones lately. This random one from UChicago and then also just one person getting into Ohio State yesterday. I don't know what is going on 😂

Carbondale actually does fully fund all PhD students in their department. You're going to run into the placement issue a lot with R2 schools. Carbondale is R2, not R1. So their placements are at teaching colleges, small liberal arts universities stuff like that. Not universities that are R1 and would support your research. So if you're interested in just teaching undergrad courses at a teaching college or working in the government sector, schools like that (R2s) are fine. But if you want to work at an R1 or an R2, you need to go to an R1.

We both are delulu bc I saw one that someone posted today for an acceptance to UIUC but they were actually posting about how they got accepted on January 9th but had just posted it today. I am going crazy, glad you are too tho. We are in it together 🙃😂

Im not seeing anything about the University of Illinois, I only saw one about the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) which is a different university (but part of the same system). Am I missing the UIUC updates? Nevermind I hadn't scrolled lol
-
But you said they are sending out the rest by the end of this week right? Lol that is only tomorrow
-
I am assuming I'm rejected/wait listed at Illinois at this point 🙃

I checked the portal and nothing. I have a buckeye link already and everything

Nope!

I'm not a faculty member, but a lot of the programs I applied to that didn't require GRE specifically said that it was in your best interest to submit a score but only if it was a good, competitive score. They advised if you had a good score, you use it. But if you had a bad score, don't use it. Most of the programs I applied to were pretty up front about them taking GRE scores more into consideration, especially when evaluating your ability to do quantitative data analysis. You might want to try posting this on the grad admissions reddit thread. There is a professor from the social sciences on there who answers questions like this all the time.

You're going to get that Wisconsin acceptance! I just know it!
-
Awesome! Keep us updated!

Yeah the Peace Studies programs are a totally different application than the specific Political Science one. Which one did you apply for?
-
They might have changed things up, but I also haven't seen anything else about that on this site or on the reddit. The only thing I have seen for this year is about the peace studies and political science PhD

I don't think Notre Dame has sent anything out yet. According to this site, last year they sent out interviews early and then emailed everyone saying if they didn't get an interview by this date then they weren't moving on to the next stage of admissions. It was all very dramatic. So I'm assuming that if they had done anything, we'd know

Oh wow that is a long time! I'm sorry that has happened to you, I'm sure you'll hear back soon though!
-
There have been no other postings tho! I'm also hoping they haven't seen any out bc I haven't heard anything from them
-
Me neither. The silence is sooooo loud lol
-
Happy Monday everyone! Hoping we all get some good news this week. Keep your heads up!
-
I'm very grateful for this forum! It calms me for some reason, even more than the grad admissions reddit thread. Thanks for the community support everyone!

I am also holding out hope 🥺 it is my favorite and best fit for sure. Hopefully we both get in the next wave

So I guess the University of Illinois already sent out their acceptances? Another person posted about getting accepted on January 10th
-
I was hoping for this but it has been absolutely just silent for me all yesterday and today 😂

I'm hoping Illinois comes out soon. I saw someone said they got accepted a few weeks ago but haven't heard from literally anyone else so maybe it was a troll
