  1. Welcome back! What schools are you considering applying to?
  2. After a long and nerve-wracking cycle, I am excited to share that I've officially committed to Rice! This thread has been a source of support for me over the past several months, so thank you. 🙂
  3. Congrats! I'm still in waitlist limbo, unfortunately, but hoping for the best! This program has historically notified students up until the 4/15 deadline, so it may be another couple of weeks.
  4. Does anyone have any insight on the waitlist process at Rice?
  5. I am also still waiting on USC and UCSB. I saw more acceptances and a waitlist go out for SB, so I'm not getting my hopes up...
  6. ND told me I was not included in their first round of offers and I will hear from them with a final decision by mid-April.
  7. Thanks for the update! USC hasn't returned my email yet. Do you know if that possibly includes additional acceptances/waitlists?
  8. Noticed some rejections went out for UCR. Has anyone else not heard back?
  9. Still waiting to hear from USC, but ND emailed me back and let me know that I wasn't included in their first round of offers and to anticipate a final decision by mid-April. I assumed I would be outright rejected, as I did not receive an interview...
  10. I know a few of us are still waiting on USC, so I decided to email them today. I'm expecting a rejection at this point, but we'll see.
  11. Can't believe it's March and I'm still waiting to hear back from six programs (mostly California schools). This time last year I'd heard back from all of my programs. Does admissions seem a bit delayed this year? I am not sure if I should just be preparing for rejections at his point.
  12. Anyone have any updates yet from USC English (not the Literature/Creative Writing program)? Still only seeing one interview/acceptance. Did anyone else interview?
  13. Has anyone heard anything from USC English? I didn't realize they were doing interviews this year...
  14. I sent a brief letter of continued interest yesterday to the DGS after having been on the waitlist at a program for about a month. I kept it simple and reaffirmed my interest in the program. I noted it was my top choice and that I would happily accept if admitted, followed by a short blurb (2-3 sentences) reiterating why this program is my top choice.
  15. Thanks for the tip! I was waitlisted mid-January, so I think I'll send a follow-up email by end of next week.
  16. What's the consensus around sending letters of continued interest to programs we're waitlisted at? There is already a place in the application portal for me to indicate that I'd like to remain on the waitlist. Is it generally recommended to follow up with a letter, or is that overkill? I don't really have any updates for the program, and I'm still waiting to hear back from quite a few other programs.
  17. Noticed a Davis waitlist. Not sure if they've sent out any acceptances. Has anyone heard back?
  18. I saw that rejection and now I'm getting anxious. I haven't heard back, but I'm anticipating we will pretty soon!
  19. I saw that too. They do have a Literature and Creative Writing program that is separate from their English program.
  20. I'm pretty sure they interview their PhD admits/waitlists; not sure about MA admits. I did not apply this year, but last year was told basically that.
  21. I was wondering the same thing. Their website states that an interview "is not required" for admission although I wonder if they're switching up the process this year.
  22. Happy to see some decisions starting to go out. I recently received my first decision and it's a waitlist at Rice, which is one of my top choices. Not a bad way to start off the season, I think 🙂
