Waitlisted Yale Sculpture...
I honestly hadn't processed this possibility...I almost feel like it is worse than rejection? I can't keep going on like this :((( I'm so sad. Congrats to everyone with better news ❤️
Thanks for posting and congrats!
Oof. Guess UCLA is officially off the table for me. If they never send me an actual rejection then I don't have any interest in applying again and will definitely send an email to the faculty saying that I think that is absolutely unacceptable and they should be ashamed. Lol I'm not even kidding. I won't word it that way but I think that is just deplorable. You are accepting chunks of cash from people and can't even send them a rejection? There's no excuse, Yale gets literally thousands of applications and they send out rejections efficiently and promptly. UCLA has way less applicants. Ugh sorry to rant.
I was selected as a finalist for Yale sculpture!!
I can't believe it. Especially after such a quick rejection from northwestern, I felt certain it would be the same for yale. For the record I got the email yesterday early afternoon but I couldn't get into my gradcafe account on my phone. But yeah my head is still spinning. My anxiety has been through the roof and hasn't really subsided so I can barely process this and I'm elated but also like...so out of it lol. This process really is brutal. Goes without saying I am terrified of the interview but have some time to prepare.
Tomorrow I am interviewing in person at Upenn. No word from UCLA..seems like last year they ran late and then also didn't even formally reject a lot of people so I have no expectations from them.
Hope everyone is hanging in there<3
Ahh congrats on your northwestern interview!!! I hope it goes really well for you.
Fellow sculpture applicant, best of luck with your other schools. I also applied to Yale sculpture. This is my first round ever applying anywhere.
I got an email from UPenn to interview!!
There was both virtual and in person options on Feb 6,7,8, and 9. I chose in person because I am located in nyc and can get there easily.
Oh no I am so sorry to hear this! So insanely frustrating I can only imagine. But you are right.
Definitely choosing to believe this...I'll take anything helps to soothe the pain lol
Ugh seriously so demoralizing. But I guess I expected it as such...sigh. Thank you so much and you as well!!
I'm so sorry and feel your pain. Did you find the format strange? Mine was a sort of personal/unofficial looking email from Lane Relyea the Director. I'm new to this so maybe that is typical.
The tight turnaround is I guess a relief but also makes me feel so dejected..like they didn't even have to think about it before saying no lol.
For Yale absolutely yes, to a degree that it can make or break your admission.

Hi, new to this forum and first time applying MFAs. I applied to Yale Sculpture, Northwestern, UCLA new genres, and UPenn.
I just received a rejection email from Northwestern. I know it is insanely competitive, but I'm devastated. Not off to a good start 💔
