  1. Parsons sent out decisions. It’s available on the admission hub.
  2. Hey guys, So I had applied to RISD, SAIC, Parsons, Gothenburg and Aalto. So far, I have been accepted by SAIC and RISD. Rejected by Aalto. I am an internationational student applying for the first time for an MFA. I dont even have a prior art background like a BFA, i come from tech. MFA is an opportunity for me to switch careers formally. So I had a few questions I wanted to ask. If anyone on here would be able to offer any useful insights based on their experience and understanding it would be so very helpful Although, I am leaning towards RISD, I wanted to get an idea about the schools before I commit. What is your opinion about RISD and SAIC as art schools? What do you like or not like about them? Other than personal preferences, what do you look at before chosing a school? What kind of a reputation do these schools have?
  3. Hello! I got in too, received the email last night :)) so happy to find someone applying for fiber! I am an international student so not sure if they’ll be sending any invites physically to me. But I think they meant like emails regarding activating the artic account! Are you considering accepting at SAIC? Did you apply anywhere else? If so, where all?
  4. For anyone waiting on parsons, they said the decisions will be posted to admission hub by mid-late march if you applied by Jan 10th.
  5. I just heard back from SAIC and i made it! I actually reached out to them and they said that all the departments will send out invites by today and by tomorrow at max. Also, how does one negotiate the funding? I have never done this before so kind of clueless! Any tips would be appreciated. Also, what was your undergrad experience at RISD like in terms of faculty guidance and post completion opportunities to exhibit and work?
  6. I haven’t heard from them so I’m assuming I’m rejected? what program did you apply for?
  7. I think I am going to be accepting at RISD. I feel like the more I read online about all three of them (RISD, Parsons and SAIC), the more I get confused. All three schools are pretty much comparable and at par with each other overall on paper. So I think you gave solid advice in your previous post, it kind of depends on what I want to gain out of the program and what direction I would like to take post completion. NYC is a good location but I dont think that should be my deciding factor. I believe in the end it comes down to what resonates more with me and I think it’s RISD. Their program is more structured and very high touch with the faculty, considering the cohort is just 6 students. It’s just a better fit. I thoroughly enjoyed my interactions with the faculty way more than the other schools. It almost felt like they got what I was trying to do with my work and wanted to help me achieve that. Also, I got my official acceptance from RISD today :)) Did you also apply this year? Curious to know what program!
  8. Interesting. I was under the impression that parsons and saic focus more on the artistic development and risd is the industry centered course. Based on my conversations with the textile department heads of parsons and risd. I am leaning more towards risd because I believe that they provide access to some of the best equipment and also give technical training. The cohort only comprises of 6 students which allows for very fair interactions with the faculty. Parsons on the other hand encourages a more creative unstructured approach from what i understand. Also, the program is fairly new, its only been 5 or 6 years. The only reason I am split is because being in NYC definitely has its advantages in terms of exposure and opportunities to explore, exhibit and work. However, i dont want to chose parsons just because of it’s location. Ugh, its super confusing. What do you think about job opportunities post RISD? I am not sure what those look like or how good is the school in terms of helping it’s students excel in the work force after completion.
  9. Hey, just curious about fellow fiber/textile artists. Where all have you applied? I applied to RISD (accepted with 25% scholarship), SAIC (interview done), Parsons (interview done), gothenburg (interview done), Aalto (they dont do interviews i guess?). I thought parsons must be a popular choice considering the rankings and it’s reputation but hardly anyone even mentions it. I was kind of confused between risd and parsons and now im thinking risd might actually be a better choice!
  10. Hey guys, been lurking around but posting for the first time. so far I’ve only heard back from RISD. But nothing from SAIC and Parsons. I applied for fiber/textiles. Anyone hear back from them yet? Should i be worried since i see many people heard back from their respective departments at SAIC. Havent seen a single comment about Parsons so far. Is it really not that well reputed amongst MFA candidates?
