Changing our start dates doesn't change anything except receiving our money later, right? I thought I was being all smart in deferring mine until January, in case the increased funding kicked in, but now I'm worried I'll lose out somehow... plz help my anxious brain!

I really relate to this! I actually cried from the sense of relief it gave me. But I didn't quite know how to feel happy!

Hi all-- firstly, thank you to everyone for still being active and discussing these budget increase-related concerns! I deferred my start date to January 2025, waiting to hear back on whether or not that requires documentation. I picked the latest possible date because I would like my award amount to reflect the budget increase (duh!). What start date did you all choose?

They responded to me in less than 24 hours to resolve my issue with Extranet!

I know, but my zip file is missing the two documents that were mentioned in the letter of acceptance (Notice of Decision and Notice of Award). Congrats on your SSHRC!

Does anyone know when the increase in funding will kick in?! Is it likely to start for people awarded SSHRC this season? Or will it be starting in our year 2?

wtf does recommended for funding mean then, if you don't get funded? haha. how frustrating!

Why is it such a shit show? Last year, my institution sent out emails to students saying they had received SSHRC funding only to find out, days later, THEY HAD NOT. I got one of those emails, but knew my application hadn’t even made it to the national competition so I ignored it.

That's weird that people didn't receive the email. I did not contact SSHRC directly at all. The email is an official one from "Z-Fellowships'.

SSHRC just sent an email saying they are releasing results alphabetically based on surname. A-K on April 30th, the rest on May 1st.

Got rejected for FRQ this morning as well! Does anyone know if there is a waitlist for FRQ? As in, if people decline the award, it might go to the next in line? My friend who rejected FRQ last year said that there is, but I can't find any information online.

I’m so sorry. 😞 That’s not a low score though. Anything above 70 is eligible to receive funding. It is relative and depends on the grades of the people in your group. I was talking to someone in FRQNT and he scored less than me and was first in his group. Good luck on your exam!!! If it helps, I feel incredibly unmotivated now too.
